Water, Pins, & misting of course lol
    #23933392 - 12/16/16 07:20 PM (7 years, 1 month ago)

Okay, so after reading what seems like a million posts about pins and misting - is it good or bad? On and on... I still seem to have questions. Just like so many other threads start out haha.
I knocked up 16 brf jars on Nov 15. 8 B+ & 8 La Primavera from "sters". No problems at all with contams, gorgeous rhizomorphic growth in all 16. I'm rambling.
One of my jars had a qtr inch pin on the side after 8 days of consolidating. I birthed and, yes, dunked the cake with the pin. Double end case to be safe. (That was also after reading so many posts with people saying pins will die even though some of the most TC's say to dunk them)
How is it that a qtr inch pin (which is kicking serious ass right now!) can chill completely f'n submerged in water for 24 hours, not like to be misted. Yes yes I know...fine mist, arc the spray, yada yada is okay **which is what I have been doing about 3 times daily in RR's SGFC to spec**. But letting the water (or droplets of mist) sit on the cake be bad for the pins, bruising, aborting etc...
I've gone with Mr. Fart's reasoning (cannot believe I just typed that) that dew occurs naturally, and as long as there is nice fae, everything works naturally.
I guess, the main question is, why would it bruise or even abort from water when it spent 24 hours submerged in it? Any thoughts!?

You have been doing correctly. The mist evaporates. Mist is reapplied to keep the cakes from drying out.
Misting too strong of spray will cause bruising and the force from too strong of spray can cause aborts. Misting gently and as needed is key.

Can we go back to 2005? I just wanna go back to a time where I don't know how awful 2016 is going to be.

I wish, I'd tell 2005 me to smarten the fuck up.

Like yo, before you know it, it'll be 2016 and you'll be a drunk homeless vet living under a bridge doing internet porn for beer and smokes money.

I'd still have my pinky finger and no scabs all over my face.

If it was only 2005

Your question is, why WOULD it bruise or abort...or why WOULDNT it?
