I quit my job like an hour ago 14

FUCK THE MAN! That's right, I said it!
Told these fuckers to quit making me close till 3am because they know I ride the bus so I have to wait around this 24 hour donut shop till 5:30am when the busses start running again and then take an hour long bus ride to my apartment. They were like "We don't want to lose you, we'll fix your hours." And the fuckers still scheduled me with nothing but closing shifts. So I put in my 2 weeks notice and told them I'd finish out this week since iI told them a week ago and they could consider that 2 weeks. Well then I'm scheduled to come in at 6pm today and I get there and he's like "oh, I'm gonna have you come in at 7 instead."
So I said "That's fine, and since you guys like waiting until the last second to tell me things I'm going to go ahead and return the favor by quitting right now."
It pissed him off and I loved it.
Updating my résumé and then running to the library tomorrow to make copies and hand those babies out. Takes me a day, two tops to find another job. Rent for January is already paid, they can go fuck themselves.

That's a good feeling probably. The better thing to do would be to give them a 2 week notice so they give you a good recommendation and get another job lined up first.
Good luck

The economy is shit. Ideally, you could have voiced the problem, lined up other jobs, then, declared you quit and to go fuck yourself. Searching for work in a shitty economy with donut skills is amateur hour brah. You are better then this. Good luck though.

i see.
I once worked at a resturant that had me on odd hours. One time I showed up for work, thinking i had work, i checked the schedule, and i wasnt even on it. Its like they forgot about me. I was a busser and i was shitty at that job.
I didnt make a big exit, i just walked off and never came back. Took a long walk stewing in frustration.
The best part of the resturant job was all the pretty girls i worked with. Ah, the teen years

There's at least 5 now hiring signs that I see on my walk to work
And that's like prolly not even 10% of Denver, granted most of them are shit jobs but hey money is money

My city is hiring like crazy. It's super easy to get a job here. And also, I wasn't working at a donut place...if I worked at a 24 hour donut place then how would I be on closing shifts?

I currently work at a burger joint which is a direct competitor of McDonald's and I don't think it's a bad job at all
Hell of a lot better than my last job that's for sure, our food kicks the shit outta McDonald's and we stay busy as fuck which I happen to enjoy
Don't hate on people for working entry-level jobs man, that's not cool, people gotta do what they gotta do and if it can potentially lead to something better I say why not?

Yea man not everyone is cut out for that line of work
I have a very high tolerance for bullshit so it's not really an issue for me, it does get pretty hectic sometimes tho, like there might be 10 different orders on the screen at one time and I need a pair of glasses so until I get some I gotta like stand on my tiptoes to see what I need to make next
My coworkers are cool as fuck though so that makes up for the high-stress nature of the job

Good for you, KZ, those guys sound like real assholes. It's super lame of employers to take advantage of people like that, I worked for a pizza place that started putting me on twice as many shifts as I had told them I could do simply because I was nice and filling in for people that couldn't show up, so they assumed they could schedule me whenever other people were going out of town.
Gotta follow your instincts and intuition when finding your path through the world.

I know a guy who owns two decent houses (mortgages paid off and he rents out one of the houses) owned a very successful head hunting agency many years back that left him with a lot of money. And he now just because he feels like it works an entry level job at a hardware store.
Why? To keep busy and because the fact is extra cash is extra cash.

Yes, the economy is roaring, that's why when obama campaigned for the Hildabeast claiming she would "continue his work" Americans said "no thanks"

home ownership is down because houses are so expensive which in turns raises property tax
if you pay 10,000 a year in taxes thats like 100 billion dollars in certain states

it's not that there aren't great jobs it's that even the o.k. jobs don't mean shit if you get kicked out of your house when you retire lol

he's a collectivist. he needs to be sure that all of America is employed and economy booming- though then he ignores all the instances where that isn't the case, if people other than himself, and the proponents for "the man", are not employed/not able to contribute to the economy.

and who is the dumbass who has to take a bus an hour away for work?
if work was so plentiful as you call it, why wouldn't you get a job much closer, that doesn't take a fucking hour commute?
as i got old i've run into a lot of people like you. next job you will find another excuse to quit when the tough gets going. you don't like sacrifice.
i hope you find a stable job within 30 days.
now you are starting from scratch with no experience, multiple jobs on your resume, with most likely low employment time for each job.
you are on the path to being poor, kid.
you are the type of working class that will be replaced by robots. step up your game to ensure that does not happen.

you're full of shit. you don't run how people live, and nor should you. if he doesn't mind an hour commute, well, that's fine. it's not your problem. people make much longer commutes.
if he doesn't want to work for whom he's working for, he doesn't have to. it doesn't make him a better person for taking it up the ass.
i love it when you people lecturing people about how wrong they are for making their own decisions, which are sensible and certain not relevant to you, you want everyone's actions to be dictated...yet, you'd never allow anyone to dictate anything for you.
you're full...of shit.
also your livelihood is shit and meaningless dribble.

Thats strange i was actually just thinking about that guy that armored up a bulldozer and run amok through town.
That was pretty badass. It took police hours to get into his homemade tank after it got stuck and he blew his brains out.

Good luck
Most large corporations do not allow employers to give recommendations good or bad, and do not give out any information other than confirming start and end dates of employment, and the wage if you sign a waiver to allow them to say that.
I'm not saying that is for sure to happen, but AFAIK it is standard procedure with large companies. I think you could probably ask them to be a reference, but if someone calls the shop I wouldn't be too worried that they will badmouth you.
I don't understand people that have never quit a shitty job and would give someone a hard time over it. Life is too short to be miserable. There's always another way.

Yeah that'll do it. Im sort of remembering more. He specifically targeted one guys business with the tank. And the guy you could tell was really torn up about it.
In a trembling kind of voice he said something about how he lost his business but that he will recover and that all bulldozer guy has now is "a damn box in the ground." Or something like that..
Thats why i thought of bulldozer guy... I was talking to someone about how Illinois and cocksucking cook county in particular are motherfuckers with civil forfeiture and how i could really envision someone going homicidal after having their property seized.

Kush_Zombie said: FUCK THE MAN!
Way to go dude. You did it the right way. You mentioned your situation. Waited for a change, Nothing happen and then they abused and you fucked right off. Respect is earned.
There needs to be consequences. They can go fuck themselves. They lied to you and they knew it.

So the job I quit was paying me $10.50/h with no benefits, they were struggling to give me 40 hours a week, they were am hour bus ride from my house which kept me an extra 4 hours waiting for the bus, and the company was unorganized.
A few days ago I got hired at Chipotle at $9.75/h with half-assed preventative medical (only doctor checkups and things like that but it didn't work if I got sick or hurt), a 401k plan, dental, and vision. they're within walking distance of my apartment, but they can only give me 30ish hours a week. I was a little disappointed with this at first.
BUT NOW Just this morning I had an interview at Natural Grocers. I start tomorrow morning. They're starting me at $10.50/h with full medical, dental, vision, and a 401k plan. For every hour I work, I get a dollar in store credit. I get discounts on all groceries and supplements there. I'm guaranteed 40 hours a week and they expect me to work that much anyways. And they're right across the street from Chipotle.
I'm about to tell Chipotle to just throw me on part-time and make Natural Grocers my primary job. I already told Natural Grocers that I'd make Chipotle work around their schedule and my manager at Chipotle was aware that I had a job interview at Natural Grocers this morning. If they have to fire me for that then so be it as long as I'm still at Natural Grocers then I'm happy.
So glad I quit my last job.

Seeeee. You can never go wrong if you quit because you hate it.
Why haven't you done this earlier BTW?
Also, if you have too much money, I'll be happy to take some of it.

I've only been in this city for a few months I was at the job I quit for only a few weeks. When iI worked there I didn't have much time to look for another job because I was either sleeping, working, or waiting for the bus. Once I quit it gave me time (and need) to find something else. I was just looking for absolutely anything when my last job hired me.
I'm only 21 and have been living independently for only a few months so I'm still learning how to adult.

Well you're doing a good job so far.
Whenever I got myself into rut jobs I just rutted away for far too long, until something else came up.
Quickly recognizing the situation for what it is and making deliberate steps to change it and not just moan about it sounds pretty mature.

Damn so 40 bucks store credit a week, you could eat on just that alone, never have to spend on food. Then your mush operation pays your rent and some. You're gonna be "young kid rich" pretty soon.

9.75 is super ouch. I been there tho. Just don't stay too long, it will make you miserable and you shouldn't be miserable for such a paltry sum.

Dude, that sounds so great!
I'm commuting over an hour each way, to make less than I did cooking, and now I'm busting my ass in the weather everyday.
It's only temporary though, I'm still on my way up!
That grocery credit is sooooo nice though man! You can afford to spend the same as before, but splurge on healty, tastier, brands. You can cook some prime steaks up for the SO every now and than. The list is endless!

Thanks guys. Apparently I also get $25,000 in life insurance, paid vacation time, and I get 60% of my normal 8 hour pay on my sick days. After I work here for a year I get 10 paid vacation days. 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year I get 15 days. And after 5+ years I get 20 days of paid vacation time each year.
Also get paid holidays and I get a free 8 hour bonus on my check each birthday I have.
They like me on my first day so far.
And literally EVERYTHING we sell is organic/non-gmo. We have a lot of badass stuff here. Natural Grocers claims to have the highest and strictest food standards.
Fucking love this place.
Not going to lie, I'll be quitting Chipotle. I can already tell they're going to have complications working around this schedule and tbh I don't need that part-time job anyways.
