Long-term culture storage

Over the years I have built a large collection of mushroom species. I have placed most of them on master slants, which I have placed in freezer bags, which have been placed in my refrigerator. This is truly a terrible place to store mushroom cultures, because of all the potential contaminants that go in and out of a refrigerator.
So, recently I have purchased a mini-fridge, which will be dedicated to storing my culture slants, and maybe a couple grain masters, for when I am in a pinch and need clean spawn.
I am curious though, have any of you done the same, and if so, is a mini-fridge adequate for this purpose? I feel that the temperature may fluctuate too much inside the refrigeration unit. What temperature is appropriate for culture storage? I would think somewhere around 45-50F, but I have to wonder if the parameters might be different for woodlovers vs dunglovers, etc.
Does anyone have any input on the matter?
Thanks!

My mini fridge is a piece of shit that freezes in the back and needed to be defrosted like every other month.
If mine didn't have that problem it'd be great of storage.

Cronicr, you are the man! I will do just that. I am guessing the lunchbox is to help stabilize the temperature? It seems to be holding about 37F on the max setting.

You could learn how to treat myc for liquid nitrogen storage. We store goat seamen straws from top scoring bucks in liquid nitrogen tanks. We fill the nitrogen locally for about $30 a fill, maybe $45. Kinda pricey but it keeps for a very very long time.

its not a bad idea to use some ice packs as a ballast too. they can really help mitigate temperature swings from things like opening the door

I have a pretty good relationship with a local weld shielding gas manufacturer. Maybe I could get them to cut me a deal, because I am fairly certain nitrogen is a byproduct of their manufacturing process. They actually give it to the local college for free for experiments and shit, I believe.
What kind of equipment do you need to store cultures this way? I would imagine some sort of insulated cryo chamber deal?
Really, seems way overkill for what I do, but sometimes overkill can be fun! lmao

We got a nitrogen tank for sperm. They probably sell those online for animal breeding. The liquid nitrogen is fills by a local gas supply. They got all the industrial gases of welding and everything else like co2 and nitrogen for labs and medical. Just look in your area for gas supply biz.
