So cool. If you compiled a bunch of these into an hour long video, I'd watch it.

I can do that, but good luck finding somewhere that will allow me to upload something that massively huge, hah. And hope my computer's processor is strong enough to compile the file at the end without crashing lol. It'd be a lot of data. I don't even keep these gifs or their source videos after I make & upload them (which I'll probably regret when I wanna go back to them), I just haven't got the storage & organizational skills. That said, I too would love to see that, lol
But thank you guys! I'm so glad these came out at all! I'm really pleased anyone's enjoying my stuff!
Just for fun, here's my very first agar pin, from a plate bearing the first clone tissue cutting I've done. 2nd image for perspective/scale:

Haha sorry, the camera is really small (like the size and shape of a pencil) and the focus knob is on the device itself, it's not easy to hold steady - even when not touching it! The weight of the cord moves it when you let go, hah. In the future I'll make sure to tighten up my editing; looking back at that gif yeah it is a bit dizzying, hah
Staring at beautiful colonizing BRF jars is what made me want a zoomy camera in the first place, but atm I don't actually have any substrates colonizing. These cakes in these gifs are the final flushes of the very end of my first ever grow, and I haven't made any new substrates, just a shitload of plates so far. So yeah, as soon as I have any myc in a substrate to film, trust me you'll all be sick of it, hah
But! I do have a shot of a contam on a plate from a few days ago! My nooby guess is it's some -gillis of some sort

Maybe it's just me, but I find that including the transition from unfocused to focused helps me get better perspective on the object than a flat still-frame would. My aesthetics and sense of perspective could be whacked tho i unno

here's something this photography has taught this noob about mushrooms - the shroom in the foreground and the one just behind it in the bottom center right are clearly waterlogged and much more moist than the ones on the left
This is the shot I was waiting for!!! Yeah they were waterlogged notice how they were the first to break veil

I've got some wicked rhizomorphic mycelium I'm gonna transfer to some darker colored agar. It would be cool to get a long time lapse. Are you using a specific software for your time lapses?

I've been recording video with Open Broadcaster Software because I used to be a Twitch streamer and that's what I have experience with when it comes to image capturing software, and it's great for viewing your camera real-time, but the recordings are huge files and I'm finding it too difficult to timelapse by extracting frames from a 7+hr video file. So I found this program called ChronoLapse which will take single images on a schedule or timer. So I load it up in OBS preview so i can see what I'm pointed at, then setup chronolapse.
Speaking of rhizo myc on dark agar, here is a preview of the one i'm doing now!

hopefully that comes out as a glorious advance of myc across the plane of the screen
