Eyelid surgery

I am scheduled to have eyelid surgery at the beginning of January. I'm having to pay hundreds of pounds to have it done privately because I would have to wait until March to have it done for free on the NHS. When I went for the consultation at the private clinic it was really eerie as there was nobody else there. At the consultation, the doctor said that he could have done the procedure there and then, but I declined because a) I don't currently have the money and b) I need time to psychologically prepare for having needles stuck in my eye, my eyelid being cut open and the aftermath of the surgery.
I am really terrified of having it done, and really scared about the recovery as I will have to wear an eye patch, and my eye will be very swollen. I am actually scared that I could come off worse having this done, but surgery is the only option, other than waiting and hoping this cyst goes away on its own. The doctor said that it probably wouldn't go away on its own if it has already been there for nearly a month now and said that they tend to just grumble on. But he is a private doctor in the UK. How much can I trust him? He seemed professional and nice, and he answered all my queries (although you'd hope so for the 150 quid I paid him). Maybe I am being overly paranoid, but I found a journal article which reported two cases of people being blinded when the doctor was injecting their eyelid with anesthetic. Other people have reported scar tissue that has never gone fully flat, and their eyelid has never looked the same. It makes me want to just have the operation without the anesthetic. I have a very high pain threshold.
Has anyone had any experience with this type of surgery? I'm really scared

Cyst removal is very common and generally not complicated at all. The only reason you'd need to wear an eye patch is to protect and rest your eyelid as it heals.
You cannot have a surgery like that without anesthetic. Too much risk. If it were an option I'd just be asked to be put under.
You can google the doctors name & city and patient reviews should pop up. you can also google the name, the medical name, of your kind of cyst and can find if its possible to treat without surgery. If you need help with research I'm only a away.
I'm a little annoyed with American healthcare that you think (I'm assuming like 500 pounds? + the quids) 800usd for a surgery is alot for you

Great advice. Thank you... So far haven't been able to find any information about this particular doctor, but haven't tried thoroughly yet. Yeah, the surgery is defo the only option
It's classed as minor surgery, and the price is £309...I was quoted a price of nearly a grand at another private clinic. They seem to vary here
