Cinctulus? Maybe?

Habitat: Where does it grow? On my lawn. In shell beach California.
Gills: Yeah it has gills. The picture shows them better than I can describe with my feeble mind. Stem: Long, feels hollow ish lines running the full length cap to dirt. Again let the photos do the talking.
Cap: Diameter, color, texture, conical/spherical, convex/concave, etc.
Spore print color: I haven't taken one
Bruising: I can't see any bruising of course I didn't try stepping on it or anything.
Other information: Scent of the mushroom - I'm quite sick at the moment so I can't smell anything.
Here's some important info. I've been on this site a million times, I'll think I have something, then my hopes will be dashed. I've only really ever found amanitas in Alaska, a few wavy caps Washington state and a million other cool little brown mushrooms I was too scared to even ask about because they are all so similar to my untrained eye. Basically if it doesn't bruise blue or have a giant red cap with spots and obviously grows attached to a pine tree I just keep walking.
But these are intriguing to me... any help appreciated...

My hopes and dreams dashed too, but in a fun way. In here https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/23923921/page/1
Having been through it; brown gills in mature specimen, near white stipe and time of year = panaeolina.
Print anyway though.

yours had definite brown prints, Origyn. i agree it's not something to get too hyped about just yet, but i've found cincts that look exactly like the OP's with definite black black prints (that were quite active at about 40 or so specimens). but i'm a nobody, on the opposite coast, and i'll grant you that the time of the year is off as well. good input to the thread.

I guess the spore print is super important. I put a couple caps on white paper in a container will let you know tomorrow thanks for the input. I will say the spores on the paper towel I collected them on looks chocolate in color. But official spore print tomorrow don't want to get excited about yet another bubble bursting in my foraging experience lol.

Any thought to the climate here on the central coast? It's completely different than the rest of the state. Rarely if ever have I seen any mushrooms growing anywhere other than on compost heaps due to general dryness here. Right now it's 60 degrees and raining. Mentions of time of year have popped up sporadically in my searches, but I'm not so sure time of year works for this particular region. Just the first couple miles inland from the sea.

Ok so I definitely agree that once again my bubble has popped... not cinctulus. The spores dropped on the paper towel I put them all on are definitely brown, not even really dark brown just brown brown. I'll still post a picture of the spore prints tomorrow, but I'm fairly certain these aren't cinctulus.
Thanks to everyone here for the help..

at least it's another good learning experience. good call by Origyn.
as far as climate/time of the year, ime cincts seem to like really warm to hot wx. middle of the summer is when i find them over here on the east coast. if there are any horse paddocks near you then you can try looking for them in summer in a mix of stable shavings and manure. we've also seen pics posted here of monsters growing on round hay bales and of course in new/highly fertilized lawns.

Thanks for the heads up. Definitely right the spore print was brown. Foes. I have family with horses near by and tons and tons of areas with grass that's always well fertilized. I guess this summer I will have to keep looking out for them.

good luck! if you ever get really good soaking summertime rains or if any of those highly fertilized grassy areas are irrigated, check in the days after it gets soaked. i find them near horse stables in my rural area.

If you do a search on here, cincts have been found all year long, especially around horses, pastures and stables.

i've seen that on here just not in my area and i look 3-7 times per week. i imported cinct habitat to my yard from about a mile away and both locations produced heavily last summer, thus why it's easy to say i've looked 3-7 times weekly (for the last six-ish months anyway). all of the stuff i say comes with the caveats ime & imo since i know nothing except for a tiny bit about my little slice of my little world.
cincts are a cool novelty. the only way i'll assay them anymore is through extractions since i don't care to ever eat 40 of them again

Ugh, I'll second that. They taste like their preferred medium. Choking those down was a task.
