New All American 941 reached 15psi fast!

Just put my brand new AA941 to work with 16 qt jars of rye and 1 inch of water in the cooker. I used this amazing gas burner for the first time that is pretty old and wow it brought it up to 15 psi in about 10-15 minutes! I've always read that it takes a really long time, up to an hour, to bring a 941 up to 15 psi.
This is my first experience with AA941, how long does your AA 941 take to pressurize?

azur uses gas burners for his PCs. I would worry about cracked jars if the pressure rises too fast. But no experience here because I need to use an electric cooker for my PC. It takes about 45 minutes to reach 15 PSI...

I have an AA941. It's large enough that it covers two burners in my kitchen stove-top. I turn both burners on high and it takes about 20-something minutes to get it to 15psi.

I wouldn't use one inch of water man, it says 2 or 3 in the instructions, better safe than sorry You don't want to ruin your shiny new pc because it run out of water
If you fill it with 6 quart of water that's exactly 2 inches (did the math using the inner diameter of the cooker), 9 quarts for 3 inches, but that's overkill I think.
With my burner, it takes 10 minutes for the vent pipe to start releasing steam, I let it release steam for 10 minutes and the gauge will be reading approx. 8 psi before I put the weight on and it gets to 15 psi in less than 5 min after that.

Ah yea, i didn't notice OP said 1 inch of water. That's quite low and probably why it starts boiling/steaming fast for him/her.
I fill my AA941 till it has about 2 inches of water and it loses very little water after a 2-3 hour session. I only need to add like a quart of water for the next round.

Yes, they lose very little water, but for that you have to reduce the heat to a minimum after reaching 15 psi so that the weight only rocks 2 or 3 times per minute.
Also, just noticed in the pic that op didnt match the notch of the base of the cooker with the arrow of the top, I don't konw if that's bad or not, but they're supposed to match for a reason, and I think it's something to do with getting a proper metal to metal seal every time.

Yea, I believe the manual said 1-4 sizzles per minute is good.

I use one on an electric stove and it takes about 20 minutes to go up, but I let it steam and build up pressure on it's own a little bit before putting on the weight. I have a propane burner outside I use sometimes and it goes up really quick when on full blast.

Thanks too all for your replies! I only put an inch of water because many on here had posted that they put 1 inch of water and I was watching a youtube channel called mushroom adventures and the guy uses 7/8 of an inch for an AA941. Thankfully no jars cracked and there was still a lot of water left over. next run tomorrow i will do 2 inches of water.

Josex, In the picture it does look like i did not match the notches that that mark you see is a scratch mark that looks just like where the notch would be. great observation though

I'm open to try 1 inch if I see that the vid looks legit , got a link? But I wouldn't be too confident to run the pc for 2,5 hours with only 1 inch of water, for how long did you pc your jars in the OP?

Just finished knocking up my jars with PE uncut and I plan on doing a grain to grain transfer in a couple of weeks once my brand new flow hood is completed. so far Im just waiting on my blower, vtx1000, to arrive sometime next week. right on time for christmas! the HEPA filter is 24" x 24"x 5 7/8". I'm really excited for this winter cuz I finally have my AA941 and I'm almost done building a bad ass flow hood...which I borrowed heavily from evilmushroom666, Thanks!

I was lucky with the gas burner because my mom told me she had one when i mentioned i was going to buy myself one. She hasn't used it in over a decade so it's now in my home and being put to great use!

Josex, started fire around 11:45. reached 15 psi at 12:01. turned off the gas stove at 2:00.
Pretty much all of the water was left. I should have measured it to see how much had evaporated. seemed negligible.
I'm wondering if i would benefit from heating up the PC around medium or med/hi. Because heating it all the way clearly got me up to pressure fast.
