I've quit every drug out there including fent and opium my advice is that you never try and stop, you only stop.
You can take a controlled descent away from the drug. For me I always did this as rapidly as possible even against the advice of the doctors weening myself off faster.
It takes will power, self belief and dedication.
The amount of time I spent watching every second of the clock tick by as the WD in my legs twitched and all my brain could think about was getting more or stopping myself from those obsessive thought loops...
Your will power needs to be set to max and know 100% you can do it and how. Ultimately you control your mind and body.
I think the best drugs out there are mushrooms, DMT etc because these all help you move away from ego and suffering where as alcohol is really a shitty drug, its the opposite it increases ego and misbalances emotions.
Eventually you can't get drunk at all, you waste all your money and are effectively killing ones own self.

Talk to me when you're 59 or 60. You're either going to be a drinker or you are going sit on your recliner next to your wife and watch TV. I agree that you shouldn't drink early, and that beer is safer than mixed drinks and straight hard liquor will kill most people.

So I didn't drink last night, and it feels great not to wake up hungover
I'm about to go into work and climb some trees. The hard part will be not picking up some liquor after work, that's definitely my "custom"

I understand what you are saying but I might as well just kill myself now because I am a terrible person and when I drink I can't control that. Nice on not drinking! One small victory at a time.

I am 59 and 1/2 and I chose B because my only other choice was C, sick and dying.
I sometimes wish I had quit when I was y'alls age instead of waiting until I was 56.
I celebrate 3 years in Jan. God willing. Stay strong shroomheads... . . .

Meditate, find god, get a hobby... Its always the same advice people give which is absolutely fucking useless and a little infuriating when youre trying to quit a drug alcohol habit.
Bottom line is you have to find a way to cope. Its gonna take time to figure it out but it gets easier. Life makes more sense when you stop looking for happiness and instead try to prevent further pain.
