Purple/Bluish capped shrooms?
    #2392645 - 03/01/04 10:50 PM (12 years, 9 months ago)

A friend of mine used to live in Hawaii. Him and his buddies would go out and pick shrooms which grew from the cow pastures by their house. He said the caps were purplish/bluish, and when eaten it felt as if you were floating. After trying some gold topped shrooms from the midwest he said the ones in Hawaii were a whole lot better...neither one of us knows what strain they are though. Anybody out there know the name of some purplish/bluish capped shrooms that grow in Hawaii? Thanks alot!

i can tell you the gold capped ones were most likely psilocybe cubensis.

Yes, those were the kind my friend said he tried when he came to visit the midwest. But he said the purple/blue capped ones (they were purple/blue when they were fresh, im not sure what the color was when they were dry) gave him a way different type of "high".

Yes, they are Copelandia cyanescens. They are the most common magic mushroom that is found in Hawaii, and it is much more potent than Psilocybe cubensis.

They are known to produce much different effects... I have tried both and the Copelandia cyanescens are much better of a journey than a cubensis.

However when he says that they had purplish tops, that is a little bit of bullshit. They have black spores and yellowish caps, maybe the two mixed together would create a color like that...or he was eating them prior before hunting??!

Thanks! that is exactly what i was looking for. Im not sure if he was eating them prior to hunting, but yea, i would think the spores might of made the caps look bluish. Thanks alot for the help!

the spores would have made the caps blackish, not blueish purple, and although not common, there might have been some slight bruising on the caps, but to an inexperiences hunter, it is easy to remember colors different, not being accustomed to having to pay such attention.

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it.
If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.
