Is it a coincidence that the Blosser is a bit more kale looking than sage looking?

And yeah I have a nice flower going  Actually it's not hard to get them to flower imo, just shorten the light cycle.

I've still not had a flower yet. How old are they generally when they flower?

I've read the size doesn't really matter when flowering.
I read a report of some university who was flowering salvias, all that was required was extended dark periods without interruption.

Interesting... so are we talking even less than 12/12?

Mine are currently outside, so there isn't much I can do about the light, but we are approaching the shortest of days yet.

So maybe, just maybe!

Just wanted to update the status of the cuttings I traded for awhile back - amazing difference in their growth and health. Not sure if it has to do with the variety or, more likely just the actual cutting its self. Going to try fertilizing the Hoffman with a stronger fertilizer. Both planted around the same time and grown in the same soil and under the same light. Already took a cutting off the blosser.

When I first got them

NOW

Wow, glad to see my blosser growing so nice!!! ... by the way might send you a message soon   I would cover the cutting with a dome or a plastic baggie at least for the first week, sometimes is not need it but it definitely helps.

Impaired , I can confirm that the size does not matter when inducing flowering, when I shorten my light cycle and confused all my plants actually a clone that barely started to put out roots tried to flower as well..

The cuttings actually already rooted and ready to transplant

Hoping the other is just deficient/younger and takes off soon. Deff not as elaborate of a root system as the Blosser so it may just be behind a bit. Plus I plucked a few leaves off the Hoffman to observe under the microscope.

oh dam nice... who knows why the other is a little behind, salvias can get moody like that for no apparent reason sometimes.... the blosser had the roots trimmed once maybe that's why the roots are more developed... hmmm maybe I should try do some experiments and see if trimming the roots makes a difference... maybe they take off faster after that?

It also may have just been older and more established cutting than the Hoffman too. It's already ready to transplant again, whereas the Hoffman is just barely reaching the bottom of the pot with sparse roots here and there. Very likely just a difference in age/development - probably still using energy for developing roots over foliage growth.

That's an awfully small pot for both of the ladies.
Be careful with nutes until you do a repot the pH has probably changed a bit if you've got a lot of root mass in a small container.

The Hoffmans not ready to transplant unfortunately, I checked a couple times. The Blosser is getting transplanted tonight actually. My nutes are PH balanced so the soil PH should be no problem (it's got buffers too). May need to be a tad bit more acidic (buffed at 6.5).

My babies are still hanging in there and the fan is still blowing over them and the soil is drying out.

How often do you guys water your plants  I need to learn a new watering regime in the future.

As my plants are getting bigger I find I'm watering them every day now.
When I first potted everything I was watering every other day.

Gotta learn to read the plants. It's hard to just water them by a cycle IMO.

I haven't watered for 2 weeks now I think and I doubt if the soil has dried out. I ordered a moisture detector. I don't know if it will useful.

I am looking for signs of the plants drooping.

wow if you didn't water for two weeks and the soil is barely getting dried you definitely over watered... Like others have said learn to read the plant. Salvias are quite easy to read, they will get droopy when they absolutely need water. As a general rule stick your index finger in the soil about half way; if it feels wet don't water. a bigger plant with a big root system will drink more than a smaller one...also perlite perlite perlite it helps a lot.

Either you over watered or your potting mix doesn't have good enough drainage.
The soil shouldn't stay wet for over a few days.

If they droop, you've already gone too far. Try to catch them just before that stage and water. I think watering should be done according to root system. A full root system that takes up the entire pot can take a deeper watering, cause the roots will actually absorb most of it rather than relying on evaporation which could take weeks to a month on its own.

I've killed plenty a salvia based on over watering. Getting SOIL + WATERING down is key IME

The original cutting is in the center and then there is 2 different generations of cuttings around it. I think 7-9 total.
