Fruiting from wild mycelium?

I was observing in the field...and no growth. But i did grab a big patty with lots of mycelium growth within in. Has anyone ever tried fruiting com wild mycelium? When attempting looking for maybe some help in this experiment....should i wet the patty? Should i put it in a bag/ or outside to continue growing mycelium? And when it has enough ( which could be now there is a lot of growth) should i dunk in water to introduce it to moisture ...just an experiment any info appreciated. I did this once before but put the poo in a little homemade outpost to further the growth but had no outcome.

Is it rhizomorphic or anything? Can you grab a piece of tissue in some way? If so you could surface sterilize it and then grow it out on some agar. If not I would focus on getting it to fruit. Maybe case it and fruit it indoors if the environment is suitable (you didn't say what you're growing).

I would break it up to take a small mycelium chunk on the inside. Put it on agar and make a few transfers to clean it from contams, then fruit it and take a spore print to make sure you don't work with a culture that's too old

The location im at now isnt suitable for any indoor grow ( not approved by the ppl i live with) thats why i want to do something outdoor...i did check on the stuff i put in a small compost pile and there is still live mycelium...i think ill just make a better compost and try it that way outdoor....

Follow up on the wild mycelium that I found in field is a success ... Checked today and found a bunch of pan paps growing in my makeshift bed.... Unfortunately not active

yes just put it in a bag and air it out every day or so and it will likely pin
-------------------- But if you're in a hurry, and really got to go If you're in a hurry, might have to find out slow That it's one thing to try and another to fly You get there quicker just a step at a time It's one thing to bark, another to bite The show ain't over till you pack up at night
