King oyster question
    #23921822 - 12/13/16 07:21 AM (7 years, 1 month ago)

I'm not really sure what's going on here. This is my first king oyster grow. Spawn a quart of colonized wbs to pasteurized straw on 11/12(ish). It's in a five gallon bucket.its I was doing white oyster that day and grabbed this jar on accident. The tips look like giant popcorn. Too dry maybe? Any help would be awesome!

Kings should be top fruited. Not in holes in the side

Don't know if you can but get humidity as high as possible.

I've seen them side fruited, but the reason it went into the bucket was I grabbed the wrong spawn.
I'll move them closer to the humidifier this evening. I thought that was the issue but wasn't 100% sure. Thanks

Yeah you need that humidity and c02 up to get those chunks pinning.

everyone is hitting a point, so what does your growing chamber look like? is it your bedroom? garage? outside?

Those chunks are king pins.

Side fruiting works very well for kings on straw logs when you can slice wide, large holes. Otherwise they have a tendency to choke off and not grow to their potential. Or pin like mad under the plastic because they can't escape.

Co2 isn't going to make or break your kings from fruiting, it's mostly going to affect cap and stem size.

Either way, I'd remove that tape from the bucket asap.
Looks good thou, but maybe more humidity
