What and where to hunt this time of year ...
    #23918183 - 12/11/16 10:43 PM (7 years, 1 month ago)

Now that its snowed and froze here (seattle area) a couple times, are there going to be any new actives growing anywhere? If so, which variety?

Is it correct that once it freezes, the fall harvest window is over?

Thanks.

It is debatable. I guess it depends on how long the freeze stays, and how deep it is. A little night frost, short
dips into the blue numbers, won't hurt if it is only temporary. I think I mentioned in another post recently
that it seems to me the early frosts where I live, normally coincide with the fade of mushroom season - but
in a "weird" season like this year, with a much later peak than normally, we got liberty caps fruiting still after
almost a week of quite deep frost.

There was hope, But am afraid this new snow and projected cold fronts may be our end. we can always hope. Keep the faith.

Warm coastal areas where mountains or peninsulas or low-lying areas help trap and retain heat. There are some areas that haven't dipped below freezing at all yet I just haven't gotten to them. One yesterday but was slim pickings. Check out climatedata.org, and check 10 day weather forecast for the coast, and hope and pray a frost will be temporary.

Usually warmer around the salt water at least around here in north Puget Sound.
