There is also lots of surface growth, and a clear ring.

No signs of bacteria so far.

The mock test has given me results, some bacteria or yeast which is expected (dirty spawn). Lots of quick growing surface growth, which I thought was scum until I swirled it.
The surface growth snapped in two when I tilted the jar.

Bubbles due to bacteria or yeast.

I've decided to continue testing Yeast Nutrients in various scenarios. I have changed the name of the original thread, From LC tests.
Feel free post your experiments here, better sharing.

Here is something interesting, I have a cheap vendor bag of Pink oyster, rife with crap. I went to throw it out, but then decided to put it in the fridge at 2°C, regardless.
Two months later, it's still alive and active, but very slow. There is also metabolites for obvious reasons.

Further thought, the carrot + YN LC was roughly 0.5% sugar and starch, 0.5% misc energy. Mycelium need C-H-O to produce Glycogen, Water is H2O so I need carbon only.
Yeast nutrients: magnesium-carbonate. Lime: calcium-carbonate.
The mycelium should reassemble said materials.

The yeast nutrients and lime mix makes sediment and tints blue. I have a "possible" reaction in less than 40 minutes.

Test confirmed, mycelium does reassemble sources.

From debris, not the main sample.

I also confirm the use of yeast nutrients and the improved efficiency it adds.

I don't the time nor resources to test every application. However you should be able to add it to current recipe's. Such as an additive to agar or liquid cultures, or adding it to water for substrates, casing or misting.
If you find uses for it please post them here to share, thanks.

I was just looking at Summer oyster on Shroomery. Right at the bottom confirms addition of nutrients.
"Okwujiako found that the vitamin thiamine was critical for growth and fruit body development in P. pulmonarius. By simply adding yeast extract to the medium, vitamins essential for enhanced production are provided."
Yeast nutrients also supplies sulfur, which increases protein production, and promotes larger caps.
Much better than Marmite

Nice! Maybe there should be yeast strain experimentation, to see wich helps the most!
