folding@home question:
    #2388942 - 02/29/04 01:04 PM (19 years, 10 months ago)

So far I have completed 5 work units.

There are some people on the shroomery team who have completed less work units, yet have a higher score (and therefore are higher on the list), why?

What is the "score", and how is it calculated?

The WU is benchmarked on a 500MHz Celeron and when complete, the results are plugged into this formula: points = 3.5 * multiplier * (daysPerWU).

I am assuming "multiplier" = WU completed. What's the reason for the 3.5 factor though, just to make the scores higher?

Therefore the "points" system more accurately reflects participation time, regardless of a person's processor speed.

And as a result, participants are rated according to time devoted to the project rather than according to what computer they can afford.

Good idea. I'm surprised at myself that I needed to ask the question now. Heh, thanks for the explination!

P.S. How is the score calculated when multiple processors are being dedicated by one user?

I believe they are simply added together.
