Actually starting

I have: 5 syringes of different strains of cubensis 10 Ibs casing material, sterilized peat moss and vermiculite 2 Ibs sterilized rye grain/ berries-rye grain / 4x5x18 injection port bags w/ 0.2 micron filter Extra needles, scalpels, etc.
Now I need to actually start growing. I was under the impression that I should get grain and casing material and put them together in separate containers for each strain and then inject. However I was unaware that the grain bag had an injection port, and both the grain and casing material bags have micron filters. I am I supposed to simply inject directly into the port instead of mixing and moving into containers? Also I have 5 strains and I do not wish to simply grow two Andrew have to buy three more bags. I have been reading the process and I have been confused. Can I take the casing material and rye grains and mix them and then separate them into five separate containers?

why did you get 10lbs of peat/verm? thats enough casing for a ton of tubs but only enough grain for a handful of jars. start reading here...

Ok, well that's what I have to work with now. So can I open the grain bag and separate it into just five containers and then put on the casing material and inject?

Look I get this is not my expertise. I have grown before but I literally did it the Neanderthal way. So this is what I have. Can someone please just please just give me the simple outline steps.

You need an actual substrate to mix with the verm, after colonization you add the casing layer.
You start with spawn then mix with substrate. You definitely need to read more cause we dont like spoon feeding here

I was under the impression that the grain is a substrate, as you can simply inject directly through the port into the grain.
And I'm sorry I'm such a burden to explain things to. No I'm not an expert in this field. My expertise is actually herpetology, and I constantly am asked the stupidest questions every day. So I understand how that can be annoying. But I am always more than happy to answer everything in the best way possible to help new people understand something I love. I have read quite literally hundreds of articles on growing and clearly I got confused. A few simple answers shouldn't be so hard.

Is herpetology the study of herpes?
You must be reading the wrong books. Here you go:

Okay here is a quick rundown on how to grow bulk.
Spawn (grains) is a highly nutritious media that we use to expand to lower nutrition media called bulk. Bulk tends to have fewer nutes but we sometimes use it to suppliement nutes that the grain has in shorter supply. Bulk is mainly a water reservoir. Bulk ingredients include manure, straw, coir and verm. We often suppliment those with nitrogen boosters like coffee, chicken manure or worm castings, but those in just small amounts.
Because most of the nutrition we need for cubes is in the spawn not the bulk you need a fair amount of spawn to see a good yield. 1 part spawn to 2 parts bulk or a 1:2 ratio is very common. A common 66 quart monotub uses 5 quarts grain to 10 quarts sub typically.
Casing material (low to no nutes, peat, verm and coir are common casing materials) is used to provide a microclimate for the colonized substrate and is considered by many to be optional. However if you were to use a casing material like peat, it must be well pasteurized and some like to pH buffer it as well to keep molds at bay. You typically use far less casing material than you do bulk or grain. A 66 quart mono with 5 quarts grain spawn and 10 quarts bulk media would be easily cased with 2-3 quarts casing material.
Once the spawn is fully colonized, we mix it with our sub to colonize. Be sure the sub is correctly prepared based on the type it is. Then once that colonizes you cover it with a layer of your casing and fruit it.
Herpetological study is the study of reptiles.

So are you going to try and grow all 5 strains at once?
