CLEAN 2016 -- which drugs have you quit, stayed quit and WILL quit in 2016? 1

Three questions rolled into one:
Which drugs have you quit in 2016?
Which drugs have you stayed quit of in 2016?
Which drugs do you intend to quit before the year is out?
As for me..
STAYED QUIT: -Tobacco -Cannabis -MDMA and analogs
HAVE QUIT: -Stimulants (coffee and tea excepted) -Opiates -Downers (Alcohol and Rx exempt) -Nootropics (pharmaceuticals)
In short I have principally resolved to only use psychedelica and dissociatives for my mind and anabolic steroids and "honest" nutrient supplements for my body. I threw away lots of RC's and poppyheads that didnt fit this new philosophy - four kinds of drugs that all effect personal and spiritual growth.
WILL QUIT: I quit everything that I wanted to quit except junkfood. I hope to quit that somewhere in 2017.
And you? Whats your:
STAYED QUIT HAVE QUIT WILL QUIT
of 2016?

Would love to kick Sugar to the curb. I'd imagine that's one of the toughest to kick. I've already kicked Tobacco and Caffeine. Pretty contempt with sticking with weed and alcohol only at this point in time, but yeah Sugar is in my goal to kick back. Don't see myself ever stopping weed though.

Nice work asante an Ra
I quit heroin this time last year, then I started again a couple months later, but then I quit again in August
Once I stopped that I kinda phased out cigarettes, because I lost my taste for them without the dope.
I thought I could still do cocaine, but that didn't go so well after a while so I cut that out a few months ago.
Stopped smoking weed for a bit because the anxiety. I wouldn't say I "quit" but I never want to smoke daily again.
Intend to quit alcohol, that is my main problem I've drank every day since I quit heroin. Actually going to really make an effort today. Also would be cool if I could stop kratom but I don't intend to very soon.
Intend to unquit mushrooms, been way too long.

Yeah I mean I haven't suffered too much from it compared to 10 years of opiate addiction, but it is starting to get a little ugly at times and I just think, "if I'm this happy now imagine how good I'd be doing without tossing back the better half of a liter of whiskey every night. I keep saying I'll switch to beer, but then I just drink a fuckton of beer. That isn't working.
Plus I chase it with soda, and I think all the calories between the booze and soda are making me fat.

Thanks, that is solid advice, but for some weird reason I seem to be resistant to that. I mean I feel pretty ok when I wake up. I don't understand why I can drink so much now and not even get a hangover, where I used to get one from like 4 drinks.
I know I can't avoid the heath issues though, I've been getting slight heartburn now and then, so I just want to stop before I get to that point. I know better.

You're resistant to hangovers because you drink half a litre of whiskey every night. Your body is used to the alcohol. I didn't get hangovers when I drank two bottles of wine a night. Your tolerance goes up.
Alcohol withdrawals are different...They don't kick in until after you've gone cold turkey for about 48 hours and all of the alcohol in your blood is gone...I'm not talking about a hangover, I'm talking about hallucinations, seizures and possibly even death. It'd be really dangerous for you to quit cold turkey right now...

Yep, I hear Benzo and alcohol WDs are only ones you can die from. Heroin wds may be damn hell on earth, but its over pretty quick unlike the first 2.

48 hours?! That's crazy. You're making me nervous now don't people who get withdrawals wake up and really want a drink or something?

Wish I could quit booze, it will kill me, no doubt. Have quit heroin, all RCs (name it I fucked with it), meth gave it up years ago (really miss shards). Other than that I don't use much other than cocaine. I don't count marijuana, because...... ill smoke it till I die. Dick

And heroin withdrawal is not over quick after 10 years of use, trust me. I couldn't even see straight for a week, and that was just the really acute part.

Sorry for the double, but this is true. I've quit in the past and you literally need to step down slowly. It feels like your body is ripping itself apart from the inside out. Made my opiate wd seem easy, just go easy with booze, she's a cunt brother, seriously. All the best. Dick

Nah...I never needed a drink first thing in a morning when I was drinking heavily, that's just the old 'alchie' stereotype.
If you're drinking large amounts of alcohol on a daily basis and you quit cold turkey, your body will go into serious shock once you break that routine. You can feel totally normal and have no adverse effects when you're drinking, thinking it's fine, but once your body stops getting that drug that suppresses your nervous system, it can be really quite dangerous. Maybe not the first day, but into the second night... I've never had seizures, but feel like I've been extremely close, like waking up with night terrors feeling like I'm going to die, shaking and sweating. It's really scary.
Best thing you can do is reduce your intake very slowly over the course of a few weeks to be on the safe side.

A few weeks, oh come on. I did feel like I had some minor withdrawal a few weeks ago, and I'll admit I do shake a little when I wake sometimes, but I really can't see it being that bad.
I'll think about it though. Maybe I will grab an in case of emergency half-pint later but I've only been drinking for like 4 months, before that I hardly drank.

4 months is long enough for your body to form a physical addiction without you realising it.
Do what you feel is best...but don't say I didn't warn you!

I was consuming very large volumes as well and for many years. I kicked it alone and cold turkey. I kept some booze nearby in case I went into the DT's but mainly I kept my phone nearby so I could cal 911. I was also lucky enough to be able to see a doctor during day three. The first 4 days were hard but doable. The next 8 were also hard but a little softer. I couldn't work during this time. Some people need professional detox but others can just kick. In my opinion, tapering off booze won't work because once you take that first drink you'll just keep going but then again I can't speak to everyone's experience. I can only tell you how it's been for me. My strongest and most heartfelt advice is to find a way and quit drinking. A liter of whiskey every two days will kill you. Please stop.
