Aesop Rock is different from all the other ASAPs. ASAP is like a group of friends, and Rocky is one of their names. It's a coincidence. Two completely different styles of music really.
Aesop Rock is awesome though. Dig all his stuff. Just listened to his most recent album a few weeks ago.

Check out Aesops buddy Rob Sonic, guy is also a very gifted lyricist. Honestly though, just check out anyone that is on Rhymesayer Records. Brother Ali, Dem Atlas and Robust just to name a few others.
Rob Sonic - Happy Land Disco
Rob Sonic - Delicatessin (full album)

This thread nearly made me cream.
That's Aesop in my signature there.
Music is subjective but if your a fan of real lyricism and deep concepts
His music is an absolute must.
I once took 300ug and listened to his SKelethon album front to back! It was a good night

Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Psalm 12:6 The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Hebrews 11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. Revelation 3:11 Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.

I love Aesop Rock, his cryptic but meaniningful rap poetry is unique to no one else.
But my favorite underground is Illogic, not cause of his name, but his deep, spiritual lyrics.
I will say my favorite song is "Water". So beautiful.

I love Aesop. Its weird though, most people I know who like rap dont like him. I guess its too eclectic, most of them are into the more mainstream shit and dont really dig deep, altho its not like Aesop is underground.
This one turned me on to a while back None Shall Pass

it takes a bit of effort to really get into and understand a lot of his work. it seems to me most people these days dont have the patience or attention span required. they just want a beat they can get shit faced to. what ever floats the boat i suppose.
i just got back from the show, and it was even more amazing than i had hoped. aside from his new album, which he did in its entirety, he also did lucy, daylight/nightlight, homemade mummy, and none shall pass. rob sonic did a few of his as well, though i am not familiar with them enough to say which ones they were. i know one was, alice in thunderdome. fuckin dope.
then for the encore he came back out with sandman and did some songs off lice.
good times
