For some reason one of my sterilizers always let's out an extreme amount of air after the cycle and after cooling when I open the valve.
Just wondering why there is a difference with just that one sterilizer and if there is a problem with the valve or if that could cause any issues as far as sterility?
My other sterilizers let out a tiny bit of air when I open the valve but not like this one.
I think, may have been a coincidence, that the sterilizer in question has caused a lot of unexplained burst bags. Maybe this had something to do with it?

Does it have issues maintaining temp?
I've had to replace the vent valves on all of my units over the last few years...
May be time if you're worrying about it.
Is it possible the bags could be popping from how you load them though?

If you let the pressure drop, it causes whats inside to burst. Same with grain jars. If you let the pressure cooker drop pressure too quick, all the grains will burst. How come youre releasing the pressure so fast after sterilizing?

I don't release the pressure until about 12 hours after I turn it off.
The bags definitely could have popped from improper loading as I'm still perfecting that.

It hold pressure fine just seems to hold some extra amount of pressure after the cycle although the gauge reads zero.
It still does this no matter if bags are being sterilized or jars.
Just trying to make sure that the sudden venting of that air could cause any issues as far as contam or failing filter?
I'll keep some uninoculated to make sure I guess.

Sometimes mine make a vacuum after cooling down. I wouldn't worry about pulling in contams if you aren't having that happen.
Order a new vent, and if that doesn't fix it, you'll have an extra on hand for when it does crap out.
If you haven't already, try releasing the pressure just after it drops & see if that doesn't make a difference

its actually pulling air in, not venting, when u open it after the cycle. totally normal for a stop cock mod, and sometimes even weighted PC's will hold the seal, but not as often.
