Is it worth it to mix your own agar? Always done premades.

Seems like it could be quite nice, making lower nute mixes if you want faster colonization, and I'm assuming other uses.

It seems to be about the same price wise so

If you add a lot of water to premixed agar to reduce the nutritions you will reach a point where you should add a bit of agar to keep the mixture solid after pouring/cooling.

Yes.  If you have agar, you can experiment with any nute source you want and control the nutrient level.

Fuck adding more water....that's just lazy on top of using pre-made shit (lazy and boring).

It's better to make your own.. It's also good to use different nutrient sources when you are transferring cultures..
Can't do that with pre made

thanks for the replies guys

I found the idea of adding more water instead of less nutes amusing. Like, its the same level of dilution/solution brochochiddy

Depends entirely on personal circumstances. I have a place here that sells plain agar agar 15g for $7.. if that was my only option, doing it my own wouldn't be worth it at all. Look at what is fastest and cheapest for you.

Yeah I get the 25g of agar for $1.99 as well. My point was if the $7 price was the only one I had access to id be way better off ordering premade stuff.
