drilling holes in sgfc

hey shroomers,
I just made my first sgfc, and made classic nobb mistake no. 3445-5a: didn't think to research drilling holes in plastic beforehand. I tried a couple of different drill bits. found one that kinda worked, but still ended up with a lot of cracks in my sgfc. couple days later it was still naging at me, and I had an idea.
I've had this big ass nail lying aroung for a while - 6mm diameter. So I cut off a 2" piece with a hacksaw, chucked it in the drill, ran the tip of the nail against a file until it came to a sharp point, and then added a cutting edge to the nail-bit with a dremel tool (with a bit of a relief cut leading up to the cutting edge).
pic:

I just made a new lid with it. 70 holes, not a single crack. It's a mix between melting and cutting, and you don't have to put a piece of wood behind it. you can lean on it, you can run the drill at high speeds... nearly foolproof.
I realise that it's probably easier to just buy the proper drill bit, but... I bet there's one guy out there somewhere who's got one of those nails lying around, or whose local hardware store doesn't carry those special drill bits. took me about 5 minutes to make this tool. if it looks stupid, but it works, then it's not stupid. right?

Hey, whatever works! Although.... Kind of funny you went through all that cause you dont need a special drill bit to drill holes through plastc.

well, "all that" wasn't really that much. like I said, about 5 minutes to make this improvised drill bit. and it works a lot better than the ones I tried beforehand.

I have a soldering iron I use for costume and prop building, and now I add making happy little holes to that list.
