I don't like talking to homeless people because I have anxiety and don't like talking to anybody I don't know (I still will talk to them briefly, have no problem giving them money but I'm uncomfortable talking to people I don't know very well). I hope it doesn't come across the wrong way

Haha. There was a gofundme page started and was closed after he got his money. Now there are other people in this comments wanting to start a gofundme page again not realizing there already was one. Being homeless and on YouTube is a pretty lucrative deal it seems. Let's hope he did something useful with it and didn't end up spending it on drugs, he seems like a pretty wise guy.

Tbh I have terrible anxiety and generally hate people... But I have felt rather comfortable talking to genuinely homeless people.
I guess cuz most people are oblivious unappreciative assholes and homeless people can actually appreciate conversation because they don't have to rush off to some bullshit or another and (usually) have little reason to be judgemental.

I enjoy talking to homeless people because they definitely drop some major truths like this guy. But he fails to understand the situation clearly.
He seems well spoken and well meaning. But his story where the women screams at him to get away she has no money when he asks for he goes to ask for the time sounds completely reasonable these days. He should understand people are getting sick and tired of being accosted and approached 20 times a day by strung out crazy homeless people for money everytime we want to go to the grocery store or get some gas.
And his story talking about how no one would help if he was bleeding. Well yeah, because we live in a fucked up litigious society where no good deed goes unpunished. You start helping everyone you see you end up in the cross fire to some serious bullshit.
Then there is the story where he contacts his highschool sweet heart and she tells him to text her not call. Well yeah, she probably has a man and doesn't want to be caught talking to her 'homeless strung out' highschool sweet heart.

Its easy to see the bad in things when youre down and out, all considering his perspectives pretty sober as expressed in the video.
I agree with everything you said though Also agree with mistress cookie that a lot of homeless live in the moment clearer than townies, although most ime are grifters and deceitful

Mistress cookie... I like that
But yeah. Thaaats why I just talk to them these days. Sometimes I'll give them a dollar or a cigarette. I've gotten scammed out of some money and into buying stolen goods in the past so yeah. There are ways to get help if you genuinely need help but for the moment if you wanna smoke a cig and chill with me thats cool. Idm if you smell like catfood.

I think he makes a lot of useful observations, but his conclusions, such as "this world sucks" and "nobody cares" are more relevant to his state of mind than anything I would call ' the truth '.
By seeing the good in others, regardless of what side of themselves they show you, the positive interactions are always possible. Humanity is in immense growing pains with technology and the internet, but we will make it out of these years of social awkwardness.

I've lived in big cities my entire life where there are a lot of homeless people. I've been stopped countless times. Never have i not been asked anything other than can I have some money. Sometimes they get creative and ask if they can ask me something or talk to me for a minute and I oblige them. Then they go through their long speel and then ask me for money at the end of it. Pretty lame if you ask me.

Was just happy to help out and go home after
The manager said that if I wasn't there to shop they were going to call the police if I stood out there

I prefer talking to the homeless people that don't care about their inequalities or short comings. The guy in the vid is mostly right but that's what they all say and it gets hella boring imo.
I used to sometimes hang and drink with / smoke out this homeless native America Indian guy who would hang out on my street, he would just tell us funny stories about his day, his dumpster diving adventures and stuff, and old native American folk lore shit lol.. his name was all native americany too. He was fun to be around and he never talked depressing shit about society or anything. Never asked for money

You have to submit to a criminal record background check to rent an apartment?? Maybe to get a subsidized one, you guys telling me that is a part of the applying for a rental apartment? How does the building know you are a felon? If that really is true, rent a basement apartment from a private citizen. All those black guys seem to get out and move right back into the projects, how do they know how to manipulate system but this guy can't? Also having a record means you can't get certain jobs, that is true, but you can still work a hell of a lot of jobs. The guy in the kitchen at my local pub did time for murder, since there is nothing for him to steal in the kitchen no one cares. Everyone likes him, I smoke joints with him in the parking lot. If you became a bum after your prison time it's at least partially your fault. All sorts of felons get out and fully repair their lives. This guy has the same mantra I hear from all these guys, I tried once or twice and it didn't work so I gave up. I don't have an address so no one will hire me, I give up. It's totally impossible so I quit trying. They all have some "poor me" story, I think it should be illegal to be homeless and he should be arrested and do 30 days in a work camp for being a bum. Bet he'd find a job and room to rent then. Stop enabling these fucking losers by giving them money or listening to their bullshit. I cannot stand the homeless. If you are "mentally ill" that is another excuse, that is just someone who refused to take their meds and became un-housable. Addiction is a choice too, I have no patience with the homeless lifestyle choice. I should be able to go anywhere and not be at risk for stepping on a needle or hobo feces, I take pictures of graffiti so I go under bridges that normal people do not go. Trust me hobo camps are disgusting public health hazards that should be bulldozed. Every day I get a little less liberal, and it's shit like this that does it. I think whatever drug he got caught for should be legal, but I am pretty sure he would have ended up in prison for something else anyway.

A person's past never gets put in the past because the Internet makes it possible for anybody to check anybody else's entire history. It's part of the dystopia.
I really feel for people with drug charges. I also think most sexual predator charges are bullshit as well. A drunk dude pisses in a alley and picks up some kind of sexual deviant label.

Ehh, he kind of is skirting the real issue, which is that he's hooked on meth. Lots of homeless are like this and will put on a big front like it is entirely societies fault, but it's really mostly the meth.
I'm not saying prohibition isn't behind his troubles, but it's easy to be all like "well nobody even pays attention to me, I'm homeless," when you're homeless. When this methhead was a contractor with a wife and a house I doubt he spent his spare time volunteering in soup kitchens.

I hate the ones that walk out to traffic, and those ones always seem to have a bad limp and move out of the way really slow when the light changes. Other than that I am courteous, but never really carry spange. It's funny, because my car is full of change, but I will never help homeless in the literal street. That is for taxpayers with cars, sorry I know that's harsh but it's just true. I don't want to get sued when I run over their other leg.

Uhhh YES you have to submit a criminal record to be eligible to rent an apartment.
You talk about how much you hate the homeless, but the reality is you are probably only a few paychecks away from being homeless yourself, just watch, one day you might lose your job or the economy might tank, and your family might be dead or unable to help you, and when that happens you can easily face homelessness.
Illegal to be homeless, what an asinine idea. So you think the idea of being in debt for 20 years to own a piece of property is freedom?
It's funny, with all the money society spends on jailing and criminalizing the homeless, you could probably end up covering free housing for them, or building more sharps disposal containers around the city. If the city actually invested in services like that, there wouldn't be problems such as used needles on the floor.

Yeah. It's easy as shit. A few medical expenses, lose a job, no one to turn to, it's breathing down a lot of people's neck. Mine, too.
