Unable to identify field mushrooms. Need help asap. Pics.
    #23908866 - 12/08/16 11:46 PM (7 years, 1 month ago)

I live in southern Louisiana and have found active mushies before in the summertime, but it's almost winter now and I think I've found some different ones. I happened to stumble upon these shrooms in my neighbor's grassy field. They weren't bordering the forest, but were grouped up in especially wet grassy areas.
The caps are mostly conical/convexed but a few were kind of flat. The caps are this brownish orangish color that fades to whitish gray around the edges. The gills look grayish brown but I did a spore print and it was brown with obvious purple coloring. The stipe is whitish brownish with some orange.  They're fairly small. A little longer than my fingers. Most of these caps are like an inch wide.

I'm so confused. I tried doing some searching on the internet but it's not too helpful. Can anybody help me out here?

I went ahead and picked a bunch. Wrapped up in paper towels and placed in the bottom of my fridge towards the back.

I don't think I see any blue at all, so I doubt they are active.

Those are gorgeous, is there any discoloration by crushing the stem?  A couple look like they might be bruising in the upper left corner of the 3rd pic but hard to say for sure... any particular odor to them?

They sure are neat looking, I think they are probably Leratiomyces or Stropharia.
Compare to Stropharia umbonatescens

Aren't they? ❤️ Love em.
But no, I'm not noticing any discoloration when I crush the stem or squish the cap a lil. & Definitely not blue. But I had hope for them because I know not all activies bruise blue. Still very discouraging that they don't, tho.
They smell wonderful. Like grass and earth. And also they smell like normal mushrooms you would buy at the store. lol I'm sorry if that's the shittiest description ever.

Bruising blue doesn't mean active all the time. Not all active species bruise blue. I doubt those are active, but yeah.

Went hunting today and found some shrooms. I live in central Cali and have a pretty decent idea that these are pan subs but want a second opinion
