Off opiates, but bored as fuck.

Got a good number of months off the opiates(Dilaudid/Hydromorphone was my poison of choice) and man.... things are so stagnant... social wise anyway. It is good to be able to sleep at night, feel awake during the day, work, create art, ruminate etc... Fucking depression though, ever since i got clean... starting to lift now i think but clung on for the immediate aftermath of my addiction....is this normal? am i normal?

people generally complain of boredom and depression after quitting any real addiction. possibly underlying issues that contributed to the initial procession of excessive use.
you need to seek out experiences that rekindle those fun connections. most people suggest exercise of some sort but most habits that are not chemical consumption related are healthy so to speak.
keep up the good work on being clean. sometimes life is full of redundant underutilised task though and that takes a toll.

Good for you man. Lifting weights is an awesome thing to do. Read books. James Patterson is a good author. I just got out of jail and had to sober up from excessive use of alcohol and weed. I worked out a couple times a day ate as much food as I could and read til I couldn't keep my eyes open. I recommend you do the same for the next month.
I've also dealt with hydromorphone/ and opana addiction 5 years ago and can tell you it takes a while to get back to baseline. Working out will speed things up alot. Good luck

I recently came off of opiates too. The boredom is real. You simply need to find hobbies/activities that you like doing other than drugs. It can be tough, try all sorts of things until you stumble upon something you like, or go back to something you enjoyed before your addiction that you stopped doing.
The hardest part I find is socializing and meeting women outside of drug circles. I just have a hard time wrapping my head around the way 'normal' people do these things. Probably why I spend so much time on online message boards.
Congratulations and stay vigilant!
Remember, psychedelics aren't necessarily a relapse if you use them properly.

Planning on jumping off the wagon for kratom very soon, today may be my last dose.
Been about a year straight on it now, anywhere from 16-30G+ a day. Imma have to find a new hobbie to keep myself busy.I quit caffeine 2 weeks ago along with benzos, so I really hope I have some energy when I cold turkey the kratom.

It seems to be a common theme with addicts and myself after going to rehab myself a few times. I think its one of the biggest relapse factors imo. It takes some time to work through but like other posters said keep yourself busy till you can get back to baseline. Im sure you will start to feel better with some sober time under your belt.

I use phenibut every 4 days to curb the boredom, otherwise I would probably relapse hard if I didn't have that to look forward to. I also use oxy and hydros every couple weeks or a few times in that same period. I can control it now and have been for 3 years. I've been a complete addict to dilaudid, oxy, hydros, etizolam, and alcohol. I'm amazed I overcame the addictions and can have fun with my favorite substances. Most of my friends can't do the same and keep it together so it probably isn't for everyone. I just can't stand the idea of someone telling me I'm damaged and have a disease that I can't control without absolute abstinence. I'm stronger than that.

So you did not take drug court, and did the county bid?
I hope so man, no reason to take drug court which carries state time if you can just finish it with county time from the jump

Its normal man, your pleasure transmitters have been very rudely depleted, dilaudid is one of the strongest incentives to pleasure there is, so as a result you are now "pleasure depleted" which means everything is boring, dull, hollow.
This will pass. Eat good healthy food and a good amount of protein. Add this supplement if you want an extra boost.
You'll have to ride it out man, dont give up

Hate to tell you but you probably wont have much energy the first couple of days off kratom. That and expect some depression as well. Its not too bad, nothing like a real opiate withdrawal, but it will be there.
About the worse thing I experience from quitting a binge on Kratom is restless leg sydrome. I always wondered how that worked and got to find out on kratom.

It's tough. Acute withdrawal is easy.... PAWS is the real hell. I've been clean for 6~ months here. Still a lingering depression with energy problems (caffeine fixes it now though) It's a rollercoaster of depression. Nutrition and exercise is 50%. The other 50% is dealing with the mental and emotional anguish. There's reasons addicts become addicts and when you get clean, all these feelings will come back like a dagger to the mind and body.
Drug abstinence has actually been another spiritual awakening for me 2 months of some exercise, 1 month of consistent + constant exercise and 99% perfect nutrition.... I've dropped about 15lb already and my physique is starting to look good.
You can do it

Oh I know damn well. This will be my 3rd/4th time. The last time I went about a week and went right back into it, about 4-6 months ago.
Im determined this time, my main problems were the RLS, insomnia. There was pretty much everything on the list for possible WDS happen to me at some point and time. Anxiety came, felt sick for a couple days, almost like a cold.
Back hurt like a motherfucker, i got 3 days off of work, so today should be last dose. The tiredness really gets me at work but hopefully this one is over quicker than the last 2. I ended up dropping my dose by 1/4, so about 4.5G instead of 6G. I ended up throwing up this morning, which has not happened for a very long time with kratom with me. I assume i took a more stim dose than sedating and that did it, or mabey i am really sick/

Thanks everyone for the kind words and advice. Keeping myself busy and active seems to be working i just have some really boring days. I still smoke weed and drink once awhile... i'll take the boredom any day over an opiate addiction so it's all good. Will be having mushroom tea tonight, that always does wonders for depression too i find. Cheers all

I wonder if it has to do with economic class more than intelligence. People who do drugs typically have more expendable income, and people with a more expendable income are typically educated better than some in poverty. Who knows. I have met a lot of smart drug users (and some dumb ones too of course), but not completely sure that they are connected by anything more than availability and circumstance.

Protracted withdrawals like Asante mentioned can last several months. I would suggest going to some NA meetings just to make contacts with others that share your difficulties. Also, to get you out of your head and maybe try to help another that is struggling.
Stay away from the assholes that go to NA meetings to sell their wares and use your gut feeling to seek out those that wanna help.
This is awesome that some of you have gotten this far...just, remember that this addiction will always be a voice in your head...how strong that voice is ...is up to your actions...not your intentions.
