Starting off fresh from MS. PEU, APE and pan trops. I just noticed germination on one of the pan plates this morning.
My APE spores had germinated in the syringe when it arrived. The mycelium is moving pretty fast on agar.
The PEU never germinated on agar. So I went straight to LC with the spore syringe. Not the best practice I know but since none of the spore plates showed any growth, I figured they were likly clean.

I also made LCs with the APE and pan trops. I've since inoculated 30 qts of rye with APE and another 30 PEU.

For the pans I made 6 bottle stile subs using composed cow manure, rye, wheat bran, dog food and coffee. They were just inoculated with LI this morning.

My first 10 APE inoculated with LC should be good yo spawn verry soon.
These ones were inoculated APE LI around the same time but are much further behind. Except for the one up front. I dumped about 30cc of LI into that one.
And the PEU all inoculated with LC. They were nocked up a few days later and seem to be coming along nicely.
Just spawned my first 3 APE tubs. 2 27qts abd 1 66qt. They all have thick top lairs of CVG. I decided to slightly over hydrate the substrate. We'll see how that goes.
Just added 4 more tubs. 2 ape and 2 peu.

The first 3 APE tubs are knotting nicely.

And this little MS PE tub that I completely forgot about is pinning pretty well despite looking a bit bacterial.

First 3 APE tubs are knotting like a mother fucker.
I was getting a bit concerned when my APE started blogging but they are pinning nicely now.

My APE tubs all had insane pin sets but don't look like they will produce much in the way of mature fruits. My PEU tubs are pinning pretty well now. Hopefully they make up for the APE.

thought to be pan bisporous - from "wild" fruit I found growing in a container outside.
Copelandia cinctulus grow log
Pan Cambo's for Christmas!

Mexican Shiitakes!
These look more like the wild ones from which they were cloned than my first attempt.

Clones are from these wild fruit from Cloud Forest in Mexico
Here are Pio's from Leaf's culture:

My first time with Oats! Sterilized 7 QTS worth last night. This morning I used my new flow hood to inoculate 4 of them with Ganoderma Curtsii and 3 of them with Enoki. This will be my first time growing both of these.
Both cultures came from Out-Grow. I'd post pics....but I think everyone knows what uncolonized grain jars look like.
12/29
This grow is partly done by proxy due to my work achedule. A couple of family members will be helping me make this happen since I won't be around much, and they want to learn too.
This morning I got a phone call. Sounds like the inoculations have begun to recover. One jar has condensation in it, and will need some monitoring.
1/13
Got another call today. Looks like the Enoki jars are at %100. The Reishi jars apparently have no growth at all though. I get to go home for a couple weeks on Monday. I can post pics, and see whats going on with them at that point. If theres no growth, Ill contact Out-Grow and see about a replacement syringe for the Ganoderma.
1/20
Today I took two of the Enoki Grain masters and used them to G2G transfers to 14 quarts of more oats. If Im lucky they will be fully colonized and ready to spawn before I have to leave town again. If Im not lucky, Im hauling these bitches with me to grow on the road. Ill try and snap some pics when the storm gives up and gives me some sunlight.
On another note, I still have no growth from the Ganoderma. Ive contacted Out-Grow and they are going to test and then ship me a new culture. So far, theres nothing but good experiences from this vendor.
1/25
Enoki masters could have used a better shake at inoculation. The colonization was uneven. I usually just wait for it to finish on its own, but Im on a timeline, so I gave them another shake in an effort to get the colonization done before I have to leave town again. Heres a pic of one of the left over G1 masters, with 14 jars of G2 spawn in the background.

1/27
Just in time! I had enough jars to spawn to 5 sawdust bags. This is my first time Ive been able to use wood pellets as a sub. I'm using about 2.5 quarts of straight unsupplemented sawdust per bag, with a full quart of spawn each. Im taking 2 bags on the road with me, 2 of them are staying home with family, and one more just went out the door with an uncle.
The remaining jars will go into the fridge and will become bags on an "as needed" basis. My phone is dead, so Ill have to wait for pics tomorrow.

There were 5 bags total as I said upthread. These are the two that I brought with me when I left town. So these will be the ones we follow.
3/4
These bags are moving slower than I thought they would. Of the two bags I have with me one of them looks good, but no pins. The other clearly has some bacteria going on. The metabolites for this species are damn near neon green, which is kind of interesting.

On another side note, Im trying out an idea I had to grow on a smaller scale. Im trying with both these Enoki's and with some cubes. I started the jars below at the same time as these bags, and I have pins showing in one of the jars already.

4-15-17
A late update on this one.
Basically its a complete failure. I have learned a few things though. Grower told me that climate control was a must when growing this species. He was totally right.
I can safely say that Enoki demands a narrow range of conditions. I attempted this in a hot dry climate and failed. I did get some pins on the sides if the bags/jars, however none if those pins matured.
I expect that I could probably succeed given appropriate climate control. But I have since moved, again, and do not intend to return to that location. Another attempt, in another location, at another time....
This grow is done.

Testing a clone
A couple months ago I made some supplemented substrate bags. 10% volume supplementation, some bags with wheat bran, some with cottonseed hulls, and some with a mixture of the two. The substrate itself consisted mostly of horse poo, about 1/4 coco coir and a little fine vermiculite for aeration. I sterilized the bags for 2.5 hours at 15 psi, then inoculated 10 of them with a half gallon of a fresh wikidzon culture that I started from spore a few weeks before then.

I let the substrates pin inside the bags before putting into fruiting conditions, which just happened in an empty tub stuffed with poly. The results were ok, nothing special - but the pinsets came in so hard that only a handful of mushrooms were able to actually fruit. So, I decided to take some pin clones from the best clusters that were fruiting.
Since then I've transferred my cultures a few times to ensure they're clean and will be inoculating grain masters tonight or tomorrow. Something I am interested in this grow is seeing how these cultures perform on a standard coir/verm sub in a bulk tub with a high spawn ratio; because the original fruits grew on a supplemented substrate block with much less available resources, I'm hoping to see strong results! In my experience, wikidzon has been very much a workhorse of a cube strain so hopefully this grow will be exciting to watch.
February 7th

Inoculated 12 grain masters from the 6 clones I've been culturing. At each inoculation I made a copy of the culture to a new plate to store in the fridge while the tests grow out. Most likely they will all do about the same, but if I find one that stands out any more than the others I'll have more available to slant and continue growing from these young cell lines for a long time.
More to come...

2 - 27qt. Monos, Corumba MS on bucketed cvg. Thin little top layer sprinkled on. MP tape for the holes because those two little pins right under the hole in one of them, I hate embedded poly. Colonized with bottom holes taped, top holes MP tape.

aaand three days later, almost ready. Getting some prints. They were dropping spores before the veils ripped. The room they're fruiting in is pretty cold, they don't look like they're gonna get much taller. They're nice and solid though.

A double liner helps, but sometimes they just wanna grow. I harvested the top, and flipped to let these grow up a bit.

This one was done. The sub crumbled.

Some upskirts.

Fourth flush Ps. Hoogshagenii var. Convexa "Semperviva". Still no spores though.

Articles of Organization are signed for our LLC...we are launching our commerical grow op in the next two weeks...keeping this thread updated with grow chamber build etc...!
1/25/17 Premises has been officially relocated, and we have our own building! I wish I could put pictures up, but buying supporter status isn't in my budget right now.
I spent today digging a trench to run a water and power line to the building...it was hard, but I felt great doing it.
1/29/17 Good Gracious...my body hurts guys...I dug the trench on the 25th...it ended up being about 67ft total length...dug it in 7 hours.

On the 26th I ran a PVC water line through the trench from the Property Owner's basement wall to the Premises building. At the End of the waterline inside the Premises I installed 4 water outlet valves in 1/2" PVC, I will finish those once the Sterilizer and Grow Chamber has been constructed...it's safe to say I am obsessed with PVC now.

Along with the water line I also ran a direct burial Aluminum service cable from the Property Owner's main panel to the Premises to a subpanel I installed in the premises. We have 60amps of Power running to us, with room for up to 20 more need be. I gave myself 4 circuits to work with, one of them is a dedicated light circuit, and the other 3 are 15AMPs each, but I might make it a couple 20amp circuits and a 15, I really want to ask Gr0wer about this when he is available. I bought extra 20amp and 60amp breakers.
Several years back, the property owner had planned on running power out to the premises himself, and actually bought a good bit of Aluminum service cable...it was already cut to the length it needed to be...many yard longer actually, so we traded him a gas line for the Service cable. That saved me about 60$, and we went ahead and put it in the trench along with the power and water lines, and now I can run a gas burner for the AA941 if I want to.
On Friday, I pressure checked the water line and it roars man...probably have about 60PSI or more running to it. I plan on installing a regulating valve on the line before launch...can have that kind of pressure going all through the place...after that I buried the trench....it was hard labor, but I got it done in about 4 hours, then I reseeded the area with some annual rye grass, threw some straw over it, watered it, and called it a day.

Nothing on Saturday
On Sunday, we actually hooked up the power service, and connected the dedicated lights circuit so we can see what we are doing next time...got too dark and cold to continue tonight, but the power, and the water both work seamlessly...I really didnt want to have to dig up that trench again....found out later I could have rented a trencher...but I am glad I did all that labor...it made me feel good.

Big day today! The LLC Certificate finally came!! I am the Owner of a company! That means tomorrow I will be opening a business account and depositing my $5000 start up check, and I will be ordering actual grow op supplies by tomorrow evening!!!
Big progress today at the Farm locale, The Electric installation was completed! All said and done, we have 1 dedicated lights circuit and an outlet on one 15 amp circuit, and then three other outlets each their own 15 amp circuit! One of the outlets was wired to a digital timer, the sterilizer will plug into that outlet so that it can run automated timed cycles! All outlets are GFCI rated, so we wont burn the place down if an outlet gets wet, I feel amazing about the progress over the last seven days:

02/02/17 Opened a business checking account under the LLC's name and deposited my $5000 start up check...then headed over to Home Depot, got a bunch of insulation and insulated my building:

2/3/17 Vapor Barrier installed. ...probably going to roll with that...just have to panel the outside this week and we are ready to build the grow chamber:

2/7/2017
Put up plastic on the "ceiling" of the farm house, and we got the outside paneled!! Not bad!

Before and After...the before is from right before i started digging the trench for the water line...at that point it was just a plywood and foam box...now it is a waterproofed, insulated, vapor protected structure with functional power water and gas

just have to put in vinyl flooring and I am good to go
02/08/2017 Vinyl flooring installed...ready to build grow chamber

3/6/2017 All Lab machines have been completed save wrapping the grow chamber and installing misting system, however grow chamber's swamp cooler has been finished:

got the first batch of bulk substrate for shiitake's steam sterilized as of today. just waiting for spawn to come in the mail:

Fast Forward almost 2 months: Completed Incubation CAbinet...got it loaded with firs oyster batch and first shiitake batch...now up to batch 4 of oyster, and 2 of shiitake:

Completed Grow Chamber:

LOADED Grow chamber with first oyster bags...got pins soon after:

Spent the first month of fruit production dialing in the grow chamber...it took some tinkering, but proper FAE was achieved, and bags started fruiting like crazy:

We started branding our farm, and working towards restaurant sales in April 2017. We established our first customers and started delivering them mushrooms weekly sporting our fancy new logo:

Reservation post.
I've got four 1qt BRF jars going right now off of liquid inoculant. 1/4" hole with micropore tape and dry verm barrier. Might be overkill but I don't see a lot of people doing quart jars so hey.
Pulled the LI off some colonized agar plates by scraping the top of the glad mini round with my inoculation loop, flaming a red hot needle, squirted sterile water into each plate and drew. Each syringe is from its own plate.

A few days ago I swabbed some plates with invitro spores and have growth 3 days later.
My goal is to fruit these jars and snag genetics while working off some fresh and fierce new genes.
Thanks for letting me in, I hope this turns out well!
