Flow Hood maintentance dust (help)

Hello I have recently constructed a laminar flow hood. 2 weeks ago I did a series of grain to grain transfers which were 100 % successful (no contams). I kept the flowhood in my bedroom which sometimes is not the cleanest of places (dusty). Today I did another grain to grain transfer. After performing the transfer I noticed tiny dust particles on the aluminum part of the filter. I was wondering if the air that is coming is still sterile even if if small dust particles are on the aluminum. (they did not blow away after the hood was on for an hour). I hope the filter is not ruined. If someone who has experience with using flowhood could give me advice it would be greatly appreciated.

Also should I cover my filter with plastic between uses or perhaps disinfect the filter somehow before using it. Please let me know. Thank you.

You must cover a FH when not in use if it's a cabinet design like we use for mushrooms. And you should disinfect the filter itself before use every time

Ok I see. I will cover it from now on. There is still a bit of dust on the aluminum part. tho. What should I do about this?

I have never covered any of my flowhoods when not in use... It is a good idea to have a piece of cardboard or 1/4" ply cut to the size of the filter to cover it though.
Definitely would never disinfect the filter itself.

Basic lab technique is to spray the face of the filter with some lysol type disinfectant if it's a exposed filter flow cabinet.
Im sure there's more than one way to slice the cake

The filters have paper material between the fins...
Sorry just never heard of anyone actually spraying Lysol on a HEPA filter.
