Hey guys I was just hoping for some expert opinions on my method and the current state of mi trays. Used corn as sub in four 1.5 pint jars(not enough research on optimal jar size was done)sterilizing with steam ( covering a pot with aluminium foil . They took about a month to fully colonize 1 got white fluffy bact another got whit-pale yellow speckled bact. Which smelled sour n sweet. Spawn layered the last two 1:1 with manure in the four trays last Tuesday 9 days ago. Took the cover off of the trays 4 -5 days ago. I would have waited longer had I looked at better info. Worries : earthy smell in blue bin Blue hopefully brusing all around.

It's not good. Restart and use teks that are tried and true, I cannot remember the last time I saw a great grow using steam sterilized corn.
Try foomans wbs tek, or rogerrabbits rhy tek, with a pressure cooker - we sterilize at 15-20psi for two hours. Don't see you mentioned you pasturized the manure so definitly learn to pasturize when using manure.
How did you inoculate? In a still air box? The more info you present about the grow the more we can get you better feedback

I can't believe you made it this far........this is definitely the sloppiest grow attempt I've seen.
What is in the middle of each tray?
They look MAJORLY dehydrated, so many cracks and you can see it pulling away from the sides.
You definitely needed to wait waaaay longer before taking the cover off. The entire top should be completely covered in myc, yours looks like it could see a few more weeks.

Thanks for the fast replys . The manure came sterilized. the trays I'm using have a rase in the midle as they were originally used for muffins. I fan and mist. I did dunk the two in the clear tub as a test and they're doing better it seems. I will dunk the other two. I know it's sloppy but sterilization was not skimped .

Manure substrate needs pasturized - not sterilized.
I don't mist, fan or dunk until the second flush. Definitly not during colonization.
Maybe you thought you needed to because you have them in a tub? If that tub is supposed to be a sgfc you didn't follow the tek properly, the amount of holes is way off

I bought "ready to use" manure online . Are you saying I should have ran boiling water over it to mosturiize it?_ the myc is rhisomorphic and has 90% of the trays colonized . The trays do look dry would you advise against dunking?

Lol ehhhh looks like you got some kind of mycelium try to get some fruits at this point do whatever you think is right (if you think its too dry mist/dunk, think its too wet add more fae.)
But ya id start over on agar then work on that until your inoculation/sterile technique is better then do bulk during your agar READ GOOD INFO

This is what I mean pasturizing https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/21522111
I'm confused about you saying its rhizomorphic, do you have pics of the colonized jars? The pictures you posted do not look colonized
About misting and fanning, it's not a regular part of colonization - if you have to it means your moisture content (field capacity) was off from the making of your substrate. Some people doesn't mist, fan or dunk ever when using monotubs even through 2nd and 3rd flushes, to illustrate my point

Well the reputable grow site I ordered the manure based mushroom substrate from says it comes to your door sterilized and ready to use. So it's clean most ur is the only reason I can see to pasturiz . As it does have a filter and polly dried out in the mail. I'll take better pics and if you can see noticeable contams lemmekno

Here are the clear tub trays . Only one big cluster. Lil ones popping up tho. Is this normal or good . I'm worried I'll have to pick some alot earlier than others or is that common.
