Automation, Amazon Go. Job loss. I need ideas?

I just saw on Facebook about Amazon Go. It is a store where there are no checkouts. You bag items and walk out... it is paid for on your phone or whatever.
I am doing a paper on job loss through automation/internet access. Here are the examples I thought of. I need more. And I mean new, software driven machines and automation, not strictly mechanical like the Wind Mill or Cotton Gin.
ATM's Self checkout lanes Security devices/alarms Assembly line robots Photography and film processing Medical robots Phone automation/switchboard Research software and graphic design Automated trash trucks Vending machines Arcades Travel agency Video stores
Any ideas?

seems like theft would be a big problem in a store where no one pays attention to someone just walking out with items.

I can say with certainty that robots arent all that. they have more down time that up time in many cases, they require skilled technicians to work on them and often still require man power to run the positions that the robots run while the robot is down or production stops. most automation is like that
the factory I do maintenance at had 5 robots, we've removed 2. with those robots and other pieces of automation they have halved production and increased the number of people working. what it has done is decreased the number of OTJ injuries

Make sure you cover in your paper about job loss about how all the jobs that replaced those are very good high paying jobs. Technicians, programmers, engineers, marketing and sales teams are all responsible for bringing those things to market and maintaining them. All of those people get paid more than the people did that the machines replaced.
I'm a software engineer and have built software that have eliminated full time positions. Companies went from paying 2 employees full-time, to either 1 full-time employee or 2 part-time. But at the same time, I was afforded to make a higher rate than both employees combined because I provided a superior service that allowed the company to cut costs and I was rewarded for it.
But the overall problem is largely due to inflation, rising costs of living, while the average income has decreased or remained the same for a long time. As a result the free market responds with automation and efficiency to decrease their costs, while a large group of peoples' skills are going obsolete. It's a multi-facetted problem, but in the end it just goes back to the poor education system that doesn't prepare people for real world jobs.
I know of a lot of people that want to hire high payed labor, but they can't find people with the necessary skills or they aren't dependable. In the future, we'll see much more people going to trade schools for robotics, CNC programming and manufacturing, 3D printing, engineering, etc. These use are the new "blue collar" jobs.

One wrong tweet and a tyrant will shut off you cell service, then no more eating for you.
You could stand in front of the store and ask people to help you, but no ones gonna want to get next to someone with their chip turned off lest they are next.
One step closer to a cashless society.
