I had one. Gave it to my dad to see if he could grow it and it died. No more info on that.

I have started several from seed. I take the outer shell off and soak it in hydrogen peroxide for a few seconds, then soak them in water. Repeat in 24 hours or so. Do this untill you see roots popping. Then plant in soil. Ive tried mixing equal parts cacti soil, and potting soil to simulate volcanic soil, im thinking of adding volcanic ash too.

They take low light and some varieties are smaller than others, so pick according to available space

Nice and easy plant. One that Richard W. Langer would approve (although it's not in book below). https://openlibrary.org/works/OL2913140W/The_after-dinner_gardening_book I have had several over the years. Fresh seeds germinate easily. Older seeds do not.

Low light, warmth and humidity are good. A horticulturalist at UC Davis suggested spraying the top of the plant with water everyday and said it resulted in faster growth and more flowering/fruiting events.

Grafting is very commonly done in production regions.
Usually they are grafting an arabica onto a robusta using a wedge/cleft graft on seedlings about 4-5 cm in length.
You can find some good videos searching some combination of "injerto" and "cafe".

Coffea arabica -
Bought a 1 foot tall plant in Sept '16. Placed in west facing window out of direct sun.
Growing for lots of foliage for tea making.
68 deg.F - 75 deg.F
50% RH for 1 1/2 months- Leaves would brown and turn crisp. Daily spraying helped some with new growth. Stretching some.
60-65% RH for 1 month- Leaves stopped crisping up. Plant didn't drop old mostly crisp leaves yet. Growth has picked up quite a bit. Compact leaf nodes.
Doesn't need too much water if potted up to a planter the size of the foliage. Leaves will droop some giving you a few hours maybe a day to water.
Topping works very well with a quick response.
I have yet to take cutting, but I imagine softwood cutting will root quickly.(Will update)

I believe coffee can be propagated via leaf cuttings much like psycotria spp.

Although in the same family no this is incorrect. I've tried MANY times but sadly no matter what I do they just dry up and never root.

The first cutting I was able to root took 3 Fucking months to even start rooting.
I kept them all in bags that I opened and misted every other day and kept the soil moist.
Meant to add that our 2 year old 4 footer flowered very well this year and is now forming beans. I haven't checked on it lately but I do have some pics to upload whenever I get my computer fixed.

My two sickly plants forgot all about them in my back room this thread just reminded me the one on the left and in the middle are 3 year old the plant on the right is a grapefruit I grew from a seed I spat out. The middle plant will probably be ok I may lose the left coffee plant and the grapefruit

I lived on a farm that had loads of coffee trees We did all our processing by hand Picking Soaking//taking the outer skin off Dry Then dehusk to get the bean itself Dry Roast Then grind and use Best coffee Ive ever had.. Lots of work but having the best tasting coffee for the next year was so worth it..
They are very easy to grow fast from fresh seed Takes about 2years before plants start flowering and giving beans but its the older plants thatll give you the most beans They can grow 4m + so we used to chop these large ones and let them regrow to make picking easier.
