I bought 3782 from ashville fungi a couple weeks ago. put some on agar, cut the rest into wedges for grain spawn. I have to say this strain is colonizing much slower than my other "mystery" shiitake strain. the mycellium is much thinner and slower to colonize.
I just purchased a bag of 3782 grain spawn from aloha medicals today. Im hoping its more vigorous than the one from ashville fungi. of course, i still have to give it a chance to fruit out.

A pic of one of my blocks of mystery shiitake. I grow 30 of these blocks every 14 days.

Hey Primus, forgive me if has been discussed already, but why is your culture a mystery? Is it a clone from the grocery? The reason I ask is that I have a Shiitake that was purchased from a well respected vendor here that has no strain information. It's just "Lentinus edodes". I've inoculated some logs with it and so far it seems to be doing its thing...

Hey Quadman, I know mine will fruit. I kinda let some sawdust spawn I made get a little old and it started to popcorn and brown in the bag. So I left it to brown a while and then tried unsuccessfully to fruit it in a SGFC. I tossed it out in the compost and after a wet humid spell I have a fruit!

These were my first Shiitake. " No name" and 3782. Both had same grain and bag dates the 3782 had a nice first flush nothing on the other. I did call the vendor and all they said was it was an all season Shiitake. I have some more blocks browning if these don't fruit I'll have one less culture to take care of Why would they sell a crappy unnamed variety?

It seems to me it may be a wild clone that is not very domesticated.

Just set up 3 bags with Native Harvest spawn from F&F. My shitake spawn from Fungi Perfecti is still dicking around. The majority of it took so long to spread I lost bags due to mold outgrowing it.
Hopefully I'LL see some progress with the new spawn. Getting antsy to add some pics of my own.
