Is it harvest time?

On 9/24/16 I inoculated 17 brf jars with an MS syringe and 16 of the jars had contaminated I found this problem due to 2 issues, temperature/incubation and probably using the steam sterilization tek rather than a pc (screw it I bought a pc after I seen this mess). Anyhow one cake remaining and I placed it in a Tupperware style sgfc for a little while and only 1 fruit came from it (the spore syringes were from a horrible vendor I did not do my research first). Anyhow now the one fruit has a cap and gills I'm curiois if it is time to harvest this single fruit so I can use the cap to take a spore print and make my own syringe so I do not loose the strain in my collection

It's ready to pick to dry or eat, but I'd let the cap open up a bit more before printing it.
You might ought to consider getting into agar. There are so many good reasons to. Spores will almost always carry some contams. You can also clone your best fruits. I've saved tons since not having to buy spore syringes. A drop or two from a spore syringe is all you need to get started on agar.

I'm currently dabbling with agar atm I have 12 dishes. I also have a contaminated jar from this run that grew a cluster of 3.....debating on if or how to clone it to agar as well
I know I'm supposed to get multiple flushes from cakes also but is there anything that I do between flushes? I see a lot of people mention rehydrating there monotub and things like that but I never see anything any more in depth detail on it, how to do it and things like that

I'm a noob too. I've got a few decent grows under my belt, but haven't fruited cakes. I mostly done grain to bulk. Hopefully somebody with more experience with cakes can help you out.
Here is a link to a thread with a video showing someone cloning from a fruit. It's basically the way I do it. https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/22923038#22923038

Too early to harvest if printing is your intent. Want the cap to be nice and flattened out.
Don't know why people are so stuck in using spore solution though. Agar work is so easy now with the help of Pasty plates or no-pours.
I mean... Most of us start with spore solution, but only because some book recommends it. Agar is the way to go fo sho yo, so....

I'm just trying combinations of a lot of things....should I try cloning the cluster of 3 in the contaminated jar?

*bump* Looking for feedback on the jar I have with the contamination and a cluster of mushrooms still. Is this something I should try to clone or no? And if I try to clone it what would be a safe method? I would imagine using agar and a petri dish would be essential as that is the only real way to isolate a contamination out any how.

i wouldnt clone that.
wait to do a healthy grow and clone one of them. invitro pins do make good clone though.
i havent done cakes in ages but IME failure was from dirty inoculation practices. like knocking up in a bathroom. brf cakes are hardy towards bacteria. what kind of contams did you get? do yu have a SAB from agar work?

It was all green forest mold and I only steam sterilized yes I have consistently used a SAB and since that first run switched over to a PC and rye berries
