Does anyone know of anyone who grafts lophs that grows them under artificial light? Im wondering if you graft them and grow under artificial light can you keep them in a growth cycle state year around with out a need for dormancy?
I imagine you can keep in a growth cycle with non grafted lophs year around with artificial lights or is there a negative effect of doing this?
Thanks folks

Big difference. Hard grown tend to grow flat to the ground. Babied lophs take on a more bloated look. Mine are hard grown but but its been a rainy wet year so they dont look all too normal. But it comes and it goes. Some years they stay flat. Other years they just look odd and disgusting. Thats just me though.

I do this. I have two boxes with T5 fluos, one with 12-12h cycle and another with 14-10h cycle. I keep them above 12-15C and they keep on growing (grafted to Pereskiopsis, to Myrtillocactus and on their own roots). I don't think there's any upside to this, as fluos are no match for the sun, but they keep me busy over winter. As for negative effects, it probably messes with their blooming schedule although I have managed to make both L. williamsii and L. alberto-vojtechii flower under these conditions.

Cool thanks for the input. Out of the Pereskiopsis and Myrtillocactus which of these do you find to be faster growing for the buttons or is the difference noticeable and which was easiest to graft to or was that equally a challenge.
I already have HID lights for other things so Im curious to see how quick they grow with hardcore lighting.

If working with seedlings, I graft to Pereskiopsis and then to Myrtillocactus. Peres pushes the seedlings very fast but they will eventually slow down (at about an inch or so across); that's the time to regraft. In any case Myrtillocactus is no match for the speed of Peres, but it will be a permanent stock whereas Peres eventually dies. They are equally EASY to graft to, once you get the hang of it. It may seem very difficult at first, but you will soon master it. Cleanliness is the most important thing.
Expect good growth under HID, but watch out for signs of too much light at first.
