Monotub casing situation.

I am looking for some advice. I spawned a mono a few days ago and used the bucket tek. I added a thin top layer of coir/verm and it turns out, I don't have enough coir/verm for a good casing layer once the sub is 100% colonized.
Should I just let the mono fully colonize and case with jiffy? I also thought maybe fruit the mono earlier and use the top layer I added when I spawned as the casing?
I imagine I will be good either way, I just have had some bad luck recently and really want to fill confident about my decision.

If it was me I would patch it with jiffy for a more even casing layer, let it colonize and throw it into fruit.

If it has a top layer you dont really need to case. You could wait until it starts to pin and late case, case with jiffy at 100% or not case. If im having a bad run I leave the casing out as its just another sector for bad luck that can go wrong. Also if you have a contamination its basically a race between mushroom and mold/bacteria.

Why are you hellbent on casing it? Cubes don't need a casing layer... If you use jiffy you need to pastuerize it properly.

Thanks for the info Edmunter. The tub is looking really nice so far. I think I will eliminate a variable and go uncased. Really wanting this tub to work out. I recently had some bacteria issues and lost my last mono.

I am very new to monos and was trying to follow a tek as best I could. I didn't want to stray away from the tek until I got a better handle on everything. I am going to go uncased on this one and try cased on the next. Will be interesting to see the difference. I am using MS so it won't be a very controlled test ha.

Thanks for following the tek to a t alot of new people don't.
It was written for a reason:)
I prefer casings but do uncased if I'm unsure about the spawn.

So I wanted to follow up and thank everyone for easing my mind. Here is a pic from a short time back. I came out with about 2.5oz first flush. The fruits were not very impressive, but there were a lot of them. Trying to figure out why the size was so small. I am thinking just because first flush.

Thanks again!
