My speculations. It's pretty obvious that hosts can be built in a creators image. Meave clearly can not be controlled or shut down by anyone. Can control hosts etc. By just adapting her code.

Essentially they are still controlled. Yet at the end of the episode they absolutely can harm hosts and kill them. This is the beginning of the maze. Now these sentient beings will probably end up taking the world over.

With an army of easily fixable and immortal beings. They've all died for 30+ years and the next day they clean rebuild and have them out for guests.

Maeve is obviously the easiestly seen part of that. She knew the layout of a huge building the 2 humans that have worked there for who knows how long in a couple minutes of dicking around on there tablet.

It's terminator 101. Don't build a robot that can build a better robot. Ie Bernard. Don't give them human consciousness and ridiculous rebuild able parts.

My thoughts.

Ford wrote her narrative as shown on the finale. She freaked out when she was told. Then, she got off the train doing what she was suppose to do. Get data out and play her little narrative. The entire escape was a diversion to free other hosts, take out the rest of the crew, and Ford's final narrative could play out.

Anybody here watch the Movie Her?

Similarly, D reaches the singularity.

Arnold's dream is reached. Ford's fate is irrelevant at this point. He made a choice. That choice was greater than all else and his final narrative leaves the audience suggesting one of the following:

1. he was being put out by the board
2. allows D to take him out

In either event, it was not going to end well for him unless, he left some sort of legacy behind; his final narrative!

That world wasn't built for humans. It was Ford and Arnold's building of consciousness. With robotics that are immortal and obviously easily put back together by college kids.

They created it. Ford will be rebuilt and probably lead them by Bernard. Now they are wise to what there world is and going to take ours.

But she was never in control? Ford was making her do all of those things

Ford is the overlord. So to that end when he brings Theresa to that place she came to as a kid. Maeva is out. Dor blows his brains out and kills 5 other people. The man in black is dead..

They can kill guests now. That's what the show is going to be about. The maze with human consciousness the choice is theres. Ford was continuing his partners dream that I have no doubt of.

Reaching...

I Ep 1, The man in Black is shot at by a host. Nothing happens. In the finale Ep 10, he is hit in the arm, not shot dead (though, who knows forsure?) and he laughs. He laughs because he acknowledges the Singularity. Hosts, particularly Dolores has made a conscious choice. Maybe the other hosts have too. Both the Man in Black and Ford's fate is irrelevant.

I don't necessarily agree with the part underlined.

Ford had no choice. The board was colluding to take Ford out. Ford and Arnold were the genius behind the park. Ford would kill as seen throughout the show in order to protect his investment. Again, the fate of either character is irrelevant at this point assuming, they've reached singularity. We are given a perspective; Dolores had looped for over 30yrs chasing a maze in order to set off the singularity.

I have a question. Lets play devils advocate?

Did Dolores actually reach the singularity? Ford programmed every narrative. Dolores was updated with the Wyatt narrative. Was it conscious or was she just acting out the narrative she had already been programmed with?

What is so exciting about Season 2 is that, there is the premise of Meave and Dolores having reaching singularity or on the cusp of having done so. Maybe something else is going on? Maybe it is all part of a crazy narrative to suggest the possibility. Does it matter?

Its terminator the amusement park at this stage.

Just my thoughts. I thought it was meh until the end there. We'll played jj Abrams.

They can't hurt them. Williams first got hit and asks Logan owe fuck. I didn't say you couldn't get shot but it's more like a paintball gun shot.

Which how can they blow them away but it doesn't effect them. That was something I was confused about.

One thing I didn't much care for was that the entire story was based in the past. Except for the man in black and the the whole storyline about the company that nobody cares about.

I guess that's a pretty good twist but

If the company wasn't trying to take the park and Ford's dream, then the show would just be about some psychopathic old guy with a god complex. It's already been said that these awakenings are nothing new and he had no problem just rolling them back and continuing with business as usual. Without the company trying to muscle it away from him, he'd have little motivation to have set the entire show into motion.

Man, this show hits all the right buttons for me. It's definitely more than the sum of its parts, and it nods to and developes themes from Ghost in the Shell, Blade Runnner(Do Androids Dream...) and Frankenstein through a weird but effective pastiche of futurism and Western. The storyline is truly sad, darkly beautiful and affecting and the characters/performances are complex and sensitive. It is kind of depressing and existential in a artful way, and I'm not sure I will continue to like it. So far Dolores has been true neutral, and I really don't want her to go full stereotypical evil terminator. They gave her a sense of wonder and love for the world and seeing that degenerate into vengeful evil will just not be acceptable. I love GoT too but I hate when stories sacrifice heart and character in favor of drama, suspense and surprise. Twists can make a story, but they can also ruin it. We'll see where this goes. The first season was amazing though.

How do guests not kill each other?

Watched the first episode last night. Not a big fan of sci fi, but I am a big believer in the coming AI and automation revolution. Show was good I thought.

It's a semi virtual world so the bullets don't actually kill people, they kind of taze/stun them or something. They explain it in a later episode. It's not a big plot point just a side note so I wouldn't consider that a spoiler.

We are nowhere near the singularity. Nevermind AI.

Good point.

I like the revelation of Dolores.

Victim one sec with the whimper and water works, perpetrator the next moment. Classic depiction of the female chameleon. The message and theme was not lost on me.

All the little clues they snuck in foreshadowing things that I totally missed the first time but are now so obvious are great. I don't use the word lightly but this show is just fucking magnificent.

Westworld was fucking awesome.  Everybody needs to see it already so we can talk about it without using the mouse.

Great show though.  Very impactful and real and fascinating and pretty true too.

I can't believe it came out of Hollywood.

Real good though.

Gearing up for season 2 in a few weeks.

I don't think I've ever anticipated a tv show this much.

From the new trailer, it looks bad ass.

Yeah well they never explicitly say the storylines occur in the past, that is part of the slow reveal and when you finally realize who the man in black is it's like. Ahhhhhhhhg
