Kombucha and Scoby. Did my daughter SCOBY catch a contamination?

Okay so I've been experimenting with kombucha, and I have a nice looking daughter scoby, except at the edges its a bit dark. What I believe it to be is that the scoby at the edges were they are darkened were submerged more than the other surface of the upper layer scoby. The darkened edges is almost a similar color to the other side of the daughter scoby. The bottom side of the scoby is darkened because it has been submerged into the tea. I would like an opinion from any of you experienced kombucha brewers.
The whiter looking one is the daughter scoby, also the middle looks like it is darkened, but it is actually see through and the plate is making it look dark in the middle.

Okay, so I just want to make sure this daughter scoby isn't infected, I'm sure it isn't and I've done a bit of research on other scobys and seen most of the contamination had different coloration. The coloration of where the spot i'm thinking could be a potential contamination is a bit darker and dry, because that part of the scoby isn't submerged.
Well I just want to make sure please send me your thoughts

looks fine to me, and i have some mothers that have been sitting for several years now. they will sometimes get weakened holes like that for who knows what reason. as long as the liquid as acidic enough it is essentially impossible for your culture to become contaminated. those holes will close up with new growth as soon as the culture gets some more sugar.
what you really want to watch out for is mold growth on the surface of the scoby. this can really only happen if you dilute too much with fresh tea and the resulting batch doesn't drop in pH fast enough.

It's fine. You would know contamination if you saw it. Anything OTHER than the scoby beige/tans/browns. I've never actually had a contaminated scoby except for one that got infected with fruit flies.. But all the pictures I've seen they were funky ass colors like green and red and blue and it's supposed to be pretty rare.
And yeah like Yrat said just make sure your tea formula is properly acidic. As long as it's at the proper PH you shouldn't ever have to worry really I would always use ~1/4 cup of white vinegar per gallon of tea or add 1/2 cup kombucha + a tiny bit of vinegar. My tea was also heavier in sugar

Older SCOBYs start to get age spots.
If you really want to freak yourself out, go in a dark room and shine a light source from below to see if any sea monkeys have taken up residence.
In all honesty, I've been brewing for years and even more obscure experiments have not resulted in contamination.

Shroomism knows his booch.
Your scoby looks healthy. They can get way gnarlier and still be fine. You'll get the hang of reading it.
