Conserving cakes (bulk substrate) "pausing production for Xmas"
    #23899908 - 12/06/16 01:15 PM (7 years, 1 month ago)

Hi,
Im going to be out for this Christmas and im not going to be able to maintain my bulk substrate cakes(fanning and misting, or even harvesting) so i was thinking on doing a dunk and leave my cakes in the fridge with water a about 3 weeks (thats the time im going to be out) what do you think about this?
Ps: I've looked it up but didnt find anything so i thought it was a good question .
Thanks for everything and happy Christmas:thumbup:

Hi friend i forgot about some brf cakes and they where  in a dunk for over a week. They came out all slimy and i wasnt able to fruit them in about 2 weeks of trying so i sadly had to bin them. Maybe you will have better luck than me as im pretty new to growing shrooms.

Don't leave them in water.  If you refrigerate, you could give them a dunk after.

Hugh i guess it could be because of the dunk...
Maybe if i just put them in the fridge without dunking i could preserve them..
I had this idea because when i bought my first grow kit the guy from the growshop had it in the fridge. And another thing that maid me think about this is that growth stops or pauses at low temps.
Thanks for the feedback bro.
What do you think about my thoughts? Im i on the right track?
Thanks a lot for everything, hope you all have a great day!

I think the fridge is a good idea. Low heat and low fae will slow or stop the shrooms from growing. Just avoid the extended dunk to avoid the slime lol
