Yes.

Works well with wheat, milo and rye.

Also the dry grain+correct water ratio as Lobi mentioned above is another excellent option.

I use a stock pot to boil my rye grains and I find stirring it frequently during the 10-20 minute boiling process helps keep the grains on the bottom from bursting and gives more even distribution of heat.

You may want to invest in better mesh collanders, I have two I use and RR always talked about how evaporation after boiling would lead to the best moisture content, it can be a work out on the forearms in bulk but he's so damn right it isn't even funny, I still follow his tek for rye to this day, all I do differently is stir the grains every 1-2 minutes for the reason stated above.

I find that when they 'feel' just right in the hand (or you can do the paper towel test to see if they leave any residual moisture behind like RR teaches) will lead to grains that almost look a little on the dry side, but colonize just fine.  I had issues with over-saturation in the beginning, so it's almost like you're not used to them being in ideal range.
