I've done it both ways.
I can't stand what happens to me post homeless if I don't really take care of myself.
I know so many people from the boards couches are pretty easy to come by.
It's very situational too. I have dogs so I have to find indoor shelter more than half the time to keep them clean and healthy.
Hammocks > tents any day too

Yeah after a week on the street ain't nobody letting my drunk ass onto the couch. They'd have to burn it afterwards. I tried wwoof but nobody wanted to take me, which is fine, I'm all set with slave labor anyway. Couldn't believe they wanted like resumes and shit, and the wwoof website is a POS in terms of organization and keeping listings up to date.

Yeah but the jobs are better now, and it's really only hard becuase our standards are so much higher, and we're less desperate. There is plenty of work once you get some basic skills.

It's really really easy to get a job, you have to be kidding me.
I have 6 felonies, and when I clean myself up, tighten my resume a little bit, and put 10-20 apps in a day, I have a job by the end of the week.
It's stepping outside of your comfort zone and doing shitty work that people don't want to do.

llocation means alot. Job growth and availability differs alot from town to town and cith to city. Ie Detroit vs San Francisco

There's hotels, telemarketing, landscaping, and kitchen work across the nation regardless of where you are. You just have to know how to look.
And if you live somewhere you can't live, why live there? ( I say this as I sit in ohio )
Not too mention you can work online if you take the time to do so.
But being homeless makes it tough to get your feet back without a roof. Working when you can't really take a bath on the regular, and have all your gear can be tough. It's why so many people on the road end up working in the marijuana industry or under the table contracting.

Yeah that's true. Also I don't really give credit to having a decent education and upbringing when I say it's easy. People always say "oh the job market sucks," but the employee market kinda sucks too.

Every time I start a new job it seems like the intelligence of my co workers is less, and the turn over rate is greater. I was only at my last job 14 months and aside from the GM's had the most tenure. Every new person we hired you couldn't train. You'd show them how to do something, they'd look at you like you were retarded, and do it their own way.
It shouldn't take weeks to teach someone how to staple 3 papers together and put them in a folder.

Yeah because you probably feel superior to homeless people when they do perform a service to you. You feel above them so much so that you can only be generous to them if they do something for you so that you can look down upon them in pity.

if you work a skill less job you're basically homeless even when you do get promoted you won't be making any money the best way to avoid homelessness is by getting another income in the house so they can pay the rent..

I never had less than 100$ when I was homeless, and I did indeed work hard for my paycheck.
Back in the day you could walk into the oregon woods and find big fucking burls of walnut or redwood and I'd just saw a large slice and drag it to the nearby carpenter. I'd make 100$ or so per burl. He made them into tables and I did find quite a lot of cyans through this wilderness business venture.
