How do you harvest?

So I picked up some toe nail trimmers for harvesting mushrooms. They work fantastic! Razor sharp. You can trim really close to the base without damaging the substrate. Makes really quick work of mowing down a lot of shrooms. Officially retiring the razor blades. How do you all like to harvest?

Decent kitchen shears are good for thick and thin stemed cubes.
I use these:

I also grow pot and they work well for trimming colas and even larger branches if you are the type to lolipop your plants.

Honestly I use kitchen scissors. I feel like I should use something more classy like fishing line, but nope. Scissors.

This. Except generally I hold the base close to the sub level, and twist a good 2-5 times before pulling it out depending on the size of the stem/cluster

Should people really worry about stumps going moldy? What if pulling out the shroom would result in pulling out an entire cluster of underdeveloped guys?

I'm assuming it would put more energy into the other pins then. I'm just saying I've seen more moldy stumps than craters in my day, I honestly can't even remember ever having a moldy crater, but I can remember at least 7 different occasions where I got moldy stumps after misting a harvested substrate. The stumps get slimy and then mold out.

Twist and pull. Sometimes I'll pry the fruit body back and forth prior to twisting to detach all the connecting tissue when it's good and attached. I've even went so far as gingerly scraping down the connecting tissue at the base of the fruit if there are a ton of second flush pin heads around.
Like munch and others, I've had contams from stumps.
You could go back through and clean the stumps off the sub, OR you could cut them off after the fact.
Twist and pull all the way.

Interesting stuff fellas. I haven't had any trays mold on me from leaving stumps...yet. Are substrates less contaminate resistant after the second or third flush? They always look so tired and chewed up by then.

I tossed my first mini mono after the first flush because my stumps got moldy...next time I will twist and pull....I feel like I would've gotten another oz or two from it if the mold hadn't set in...

I use a knife. Takes a good 2-3 minutes to harvest a tub this way
Leave lots of stumps. Stumps turn into mycelium(already are mycelium technically) and that's where new pins form from
Stumps Haven't caused any contamination problems for me

You have pins form from your stumps? Am I wrong...I thought all pins formed for subsequent flushes during the pre-fruiting stage?

That's what RR says, and I disagree with it, at least when it comes to cubes.

I hear you. Just thought they formed early, then swelled up later.
