I have been doing plenty of research. But what is flow hood exactly for? Is it for proper air flow exchange?

A flow hood creates pseudo-sterile air; air that has little to no contaminants flowing out of it. It's a big air filter that you can work on your cultures in front of without much risk of contamination, and you can do transfers from jar to jar, etc. It's a tool to create clean cultures.
It's best for more serious growers or commercial growers.

A flow hood is used to stop contamination when inoculating your jars. In other words to create a sterile space.
In my experience a flow hood is not 100% effective while the bag method is.
A clear plastic bag and a small bottle of alcohol is a better solution. Put everting needed for inculcation in the bag, close it air tight then spray everything inside bag with alcohol using the corners as gloves. Wait twenty minutes then inculcate using the corners of the bag as gloves.

Yea I am a beginner, I don't see any use for it yet. But I am rather inquisitive. It sounds like a lot of people are into them.

You will see the use if any of your cakes get contaminated. Before the bag method I would loose two or more cakes every time, since switching I have not lost a signal cake.

I sat and tried to think about what you were talking about with a bag Whats the deal man, an inflated bag with your work inside? Did you really replace your flow hood with a bag? If so I am hard pressed to say you didn't build it right.

Yup and how much time effort and cost went into a flow hood? Yet any yard waste bag and spray bottle of alcohol will do job for way less.
Sorry buddy but if you bother to check the bag method has been well explained but people who spend hundreds on filters and fans don't like it. I wonder why? ROLMFAO

Try doing agar work like this and report back.
Your opinion that a flow hood is only used for inoculating jars is just plain wrong.
Also, if you can show me a link to a write up where someone builds a legitimate fully functioning flow hood for $100, I'd be pretty stoked. Link?
