So i tried micropore on my monos and i found that the amount nessary to cover holes andbdial in tubs are (with the size holes i have ) is wayyyyy more economical .i tried the single layer top and double bottom and the tubs just didnt seem to hold the moisture i was looking for (no buildup on sidesbof the tubs ) and at 11$ a large roll that doesnt go too far this was last week i orderd 10 lbs of polly stupid cheap off line and redid the tubs with in 20 mins i had moisture buildup! im not saying micropore cant be used to the same effect it just isnt worth it in the long run ime

that's what I was thinking or a fan blowing on them or something.
Or maybe your holes are bigger than the tek and therefore would need more tape.
Also I got this deal on prime $11 for a six pack of 2" wide tape https://www.amazon.com/3M-Micropore-Tape-Dispenser-Count/dp/B000WV345U/ref=sr_tnr_p_3_3762761_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1480967028&sr=8-3&keywords=2+micropore+tape

Pasty, the guy who made this tek is from a zone 2 climate where it's pretty much constantly under 10-20% rH, especially in the winter.. Highly doubt dry climate is the problem.
Besides, I rarely have rings, even when I use poly, because I'm a max FAE grower..

Is there a special reason for putting weights on tubs?

I've also literally never done that xD, but I'm assuming it's to weigh the lid down for the top one. Also don't really see a point to that as well.,

I think he means he errs on the side of more FAE rather than worrying about keeping up humidity, thus eliminating the problems associated with low FAE and co2 buildup.

Definitely. I live in desert dry climate and the micropore tape works fine.
I love lots of fae as well and found that removing the handles and boring out the little holes where the handles attach made a significant difference in pins and fruit formation. just that much more FAE does a lot.
Now with a full pinset in half maturity I will remove both top holes" tape and even sometimes a bottom one if the fruits need it.
To me it is just so much easier to work with than poly and easier to dial in.

When I grow I don't stuff my top holes, or keep them extremely loose. This results in no rings lol. Hell some of my tubs don't even have condensation.
This means I have to mist more often to compensate, which is what I prefer to do. It teaches me how to mist properly, I can hardcore blast fruits with no bacterial blotching, and i have nice full fruits. This is my style, and everyone's is different. The rings around your holes is a good start, but if you have the skills to pull off max FAE, it will always be much better.

One thing that I didn't account for when testing micropore taped holes is that I often case my tubs. Without casing I did find that misting became a necessity. I have been playing with some uncased tubs and will be adjusting my post with those findings. While the top holes remained the same, I have added an extra layer to the bottom especially now that winter is here and my damn furnace runs non stop.
