Chalazions

Yes. It's another whinge I'm afraid But has anyone had one of these motherfuckers before and successfully got rid of it? I've had this chalazion on my left eyelid for 3 weeks now with no sign of it letting up. Occasionally it burns and stings, and one eyelid looks more swollen than the other.
It also means that I can't wear any eye makeup (which is the only makeup I really liked wearing) and I can't wear my contact lenses. I really hate wearing glasses as I don't think they suit me. People think I look 10 years younger when I don't wear glasses, but I look my age with them on...If anyone has any ideas please let me know. The internet is full of conflicting information, and the doctors aren't being helpful at all. They said I just have to 'wait and see if it goes by itself', which is a 50% chance apparently, and if it doesn't, in about 2 months I'll have to go and get it surgically cut out, which I really don't like the sound of.

It probably will drain on its own. But a warm moist wash cloth held on for like 20 min in the morning and 20 at night should help the discomfort if not assist in the drainage.

Thanks. I've tried the hot compresses a lot. About 4 or 5 times a day, for 10-15 minutes a go. It actually started to settle more after I got fed up and left it alone though. But since getting drunk on Saturday it's flared back up again

There are eye drops you can get for them, it leaves like a film on it like an eye band-aid it should help with the irritation

IT'S NOT A STYE. Chalazions are much worse.

Thanks man. It might not sound like much, but having uneven eyes and a cyst stuck to your eyelid isn't fun. it's really upsetting me.

Over a course of a few days of soaking his eye with a warm wash cloth for 10-15 minutes a day three times a day he also didn't have a stye.

Asking for medical advice on the shroomery is like asking a taco vender in Mexico how to stabilize liquid oxygen for spaceflight.

LOL!!
I'm not asking for medical advice per se, just whether or not anyone else has had any experience with one of these things.

Well she said she went to a doctor, what is the next step for you then?
Give yourself some time to heal pixie. I know it sucks dealing with something like that but it will heal. I don't think the surgery would be as bad as you'd expect. It's not like they're going to remove your eyeball. If that is the best option, then do it.
I really doubt it is anything serious. Keep up with the warm compresses and not wearing contacts or makeup.

The surgery scares me because I think they will remove one of the pores in my eyes, and as you only have about 30-40 pores in each eye, and I have dry eyes already, it concerns me. Sometimes the swelling after surgery can be so bad that your eye swells completely shut. And my left eye is my best eye out of a pair of bad eyes. So it does worry me, but might be my only option.
Next step is I'm trying to be seen at a private clinic as nobody has actually looked at the damn thing properly...as in flipped my lid to inspect it. Just to be seen will cost me 150 quid though and to have it removed by them is nearly a grand :/
I think that's good advice about continuing not wearing the eye makeup and contacts (much as I'm desperate to). My doctor actually said I could, but I'm skeptical...especially about wearing the contacts. A lot of sources online say not to. I can feel the damn thing burning as I write this.

Damn I thought you guys didn't pay for nothing in the UK. Is that because it is not considered necessary?
It definitely sounds like an irritated gland. It's probably somewhat infected, but that's basically just a pimple under your eyelid. I've definitely had them and it always sorted itself out. I sometimes get irritated follicles that last way too long, and I will think that I have cancer or something, but then it goes away and it is like it never happened. Warm compresses don't really seem to help to me, but I think they probably do, and it should make you feel better.

Well, I can have it cut out for free on the NHS, but I'd have to wait for another 2 months for that and i don't feel like it's been assessed properly, and I have a lot of questions. Also, the private clinic would freeze it off rather than cutting it out which is supposed to be less invasive. So I'm just in the period of trying to weigh up my options at the moment cos it's driving me nuts.
Ah, yes! Gland is the right word, not pore. When it first developed it was infected - tender to the touch. The optician told me that it wasn't though...so I went to the hospital, who gave me some antibiotic gel. After a few days of using it the redness subsided and it wasn't tender to touch anymore. But it does intermittently burn and feel irritated. I'm thinking the burning might be because of dryness due to the lack of the gland working properly for lubrication.
LOL at cancer. The thought had crossed my mind too. How long do yours usually take to go away?

I've never really marked the times, but several weeks is pretty normal. Sometimes it drains and goes away, and sometimes it just goes away. I mean are your eyes red and bloodshot, or does it just hurt? You have plenty of glands and when they respond to an infection they should be active.
I wish I could say something really mean to make you cry so your eyes got wet, but I like you too much.

Awww shucks, you big softy
My eye isn't bloodshot...It's just cos the cyst and the swelling of the lid has been there for 3 weeks now. Sounds really lame but I haven't been going outside much because I hate wearing my glasses and no eye makeup. Feel like a nerdy plain Jane. I ordered some new glasses last week but they still haven't arrived. Praying I'll actually like these glasses more :/
