Just had to put one of my dogs to sleep.
    #23896612 - 12/05/16 11:44 AM (7 years, 1 month ago)

She was an american bulldog named sasha and she was the most friendly sweet dog I've ever owned. She was 13 and her arthritis got so bad she couldn't walk anymore and had become completely incontinent. It was literally they hardest thing I've ever had to deal with. Even more so than my stroke and heart failure earlier this year.

My boxer dixie is completely lost without her. This is them chilling. Here's to coping.

My thoughts are with you.  I don't currently have a dog but my parents' dog is definitely my best friend and every time I've had a dog it has been my best friend.  Had to put one down once and it hurt for a while, but sometimes it's the right thing to do for the dog.  You did the selfless and compassionate thing by ending your dog's suffering even though you knew it would cause you sadness.

Aw man I'm sorry. She's a beautiful dog too.

My old dog, right around the same age, passed away 1 day before he was scheduled to be put down back in August. We were basically carrying him and it was a burden on him and us as an 80lb lab. But he had bad arthritis and his leg muscles were burned down to nothing.

My chow mix sat by the front door for 3 days waiting to Teddy Bear to come home. It was hard on all of us. I miss my buddy. But I'm glad he's not suffering anymore. I like to think he's up in animal heaven chasing ducks in the sky with my old cat (they grew up together.)

When an animal can't walk it's quality of life is considerably worse than ours in that situation. Them being unable to walk is the same as us being a near vegetable. Its hard but it is the biggest mercy we can give them in that situation, a peaceful transition with their loving companions at their side.

Fuck I'm gonna cry.

Did she develope the arthritis soley due to age or was injury a factor as well? One of my amstaffies is starting to get slow and is always limping due to numerous injuries sustained when she was younger. Has me worried about her, I don't want her to be in pain but she is still too young in my mind to get put down.

Sorry for your loss.

Yeah my dog has a tumor on his whiskers.  The vet says it could work itself out on it's own, but it has me pretty worried.  Sometimes I will bleed and it seems to be getting bigger.

Sorry about the loss.  I know that has to be really hard.

My buddy lost his dog easter one year. Creepy given the symbolism and timing. The solution? Buy another dog. It is not the same but, it helps you distract from the circumstances. Keep busy. I suggest working out, get the endorphins kicking, and remain active. Read in your spare time.

I feel your pain man, I had to put my first dog died wn awhile back as well and it was the hardest thing I have done. Left me very sad for weeks but it gets easier and all you can do is try to live a good life to honor theirs.

It felt like losing a part of myself and was very surreal, took awhile to really set it.

Anyways my condolences and I hope you are able to move forward healthily with plenty of warm memories to hold onto.

You know how it feels, With the breeze of the sun in your eyes. Not minding that time's passing by

I've got all and more, My smile, just as before. Is all that I carry with me

I talk to myself, I need nobody else. I'm lost and I'm mine, yes I'm free
