Little newbie trick until you have grains down pat.
    #23896491 - 12/05/16 11:04 AM (7 years, 1 month ago)

First time really posting something on cultivation but here it goes. So I am new to home cultivation and I had problems with getting the moisture content just about right in my jars(too much moisture). I asked a buddy of mine for a tip and he said to put about an inch of vermiculite on the bottom and so far as I am still going through the process of getting my grain right I don't have to worry about screwing up all my jars with pooling on the bottom.

That's neat, but you should always get the moisture perfect before even putting the material into the jar.
Practice, or follow a tek exactly.

what kind of grain. i use wbs. 24hour soak. thats it.
kind of hard to mess up that one.

some people dont want to waste the space either. and what if you shake your jars?

thats like a crutch.. get your content right. when i did rye and wasnt sure
i did one jar at a time until i got the prep down solid. that way i didnt fuck up a whole batch.

ignore the bacteria. but hells yah.

rinse like a mofo. cover seed with hot ass water.
I pay for things in life so i turn up the temp on my water heater.
the HOT water is damn near boiling when it comes out. be careful :p

dump some gypsum if i remember too and cover for 24hrs. i used to simmer
but it fucks stuff up if you dont watch it or boil to quick.

I wouldn't simmer wbs either. Load more wet and let it soak the rest up

Kinda like with oats

After you boil / simmer your grain try putting the strainer over a fan.

This makes it perfect for me in just a few minutes.

I use WBS the tek I followed said to simmer and I've been getting closer to desired moisture content what I have seen with when I shake it is the dry vermiculite wicks up excess moisture then the pooling goes away. I know it's a crutch but hey if it helps it helps and I don't waste money.

That's why I may have had too much moisture in my jars cause I didn't dry it out as well as I could have after I simmered it.

if it works for you then do what you gotta do:thumbup:

just for fun try 1 jar with a 24hr soak. just do it by itself.
you purposely dont drain it too much. load slightly damp. pc 2hr.
remove from pc still warm and shake them up.

ill even do 1 jar simmered with verm incase i f up the content to compare with you
