Finger numb after slicing it

I sliced the side of my index finger really bad just now, like it hit the bone I'm sure, and now theres a really numb spot just after the slice. It's like right after the middle knuckle. I can still move it all like normal and make a fist, (thank you jesus) but this numb spot feels pretty sketchy.
I almost fainted really bad when I looked at it.
Someone please tell me my finger is not ruined. Google is telling me some bad shit. Nerve neuroma forming on severed nerves???

It's so numb though  I don't want neuromas in my finger, I'll have to hire a hand surgeon to cut them out

You probably severed the nerve to that area. Probably a permanent situation.

Maybe, maybe not. I had surgery on my arm once and couldn't feel my left thumb for like close to 5 years. It eventually came back though.

I'm prone to bad accidents/injuries. I had this when I cut my wrist (accident) and cut my foot wide open while swimming. With my wrist, my whole thumb, including the ball part of the palm were numb. With my foot it was my big toe. Neither was permanent but it did last a long time (much longer than it took the wounds to heal). Actually, by the time feeling came back to either, I had been living with it for so long I was already used to the idea that it was irreversible and had stopped paying attention to it a while before.

I have hit the bone twice, worst thing is you have a numb sport for a long time, maybe life. so long as it still works and causes no intense pain then don't worry. If worried take your ass to the Hospital.

Might I inquire as to how you went about cutting your finger so badly?

I would think that some numbness is normal as the changes take place around the cut for the cut to begin healing. I really wouldn't worry about the numbness until it's healed up, by which time it probably won't be numb any more. Blood vessels have to close off to stop the bleeding and a lot of change and growth will be happening.

If you still have full movement you are ok. Clean it really good then either glue it shut or suture. I know what you are taking about with the numbness I've had some deep cuts and stabs usually cleaning fish

I sliced my index finger to the bone back in 2011, the tip of that finger immediately went numb from nerve damage. Required a few stitches to patch it up.
The numbness and lack of sensation slowly got better over the years. At this point I'd say it's like 90% back, only feels a little strange when it's very cold.

Yes, nerves can take a long time to heal, if they fully heal that is. I'd recall a doctor saying that severed nerves usually grow at a rate of around one millimeter per day if everything is going well. Look up lions mane mushroom if you want something that might help with nerve growth.

Interesting I didn't know lions mane helped with it. Eaten my fair share in the last few years though.

I had a similar experience, got a deep cut from glass that damaged the nerve going to the section of palm near my thumb. The feeling mostly returned in about 2 years but it still feels a little odd 10 years after the injury.

You know how when you're pushing a knife on an object in the wrong direction with force? And you know it's not going to end well but you think that it might work anyway? And just as you're thinking "I'm a dumb ass" the knife slips behind your forceful had into your other hand like you just imagined it doing. That's what happened. I was furious at myself, then worried, and now bumbed cause it's extremely painful today and I woke up with dried blood all over my sleeping area. Also still totally numb

Umm, you'd better show it to a doctor. Is it swelling a lot?
