Cool finds

This season has been really fun for me. My timing has been really good so far with having the day off in conjunction with lots of mushrooms being out. The first picture is some Gymnopolis luteofolis I found growing on and around a dead oak stump. The blue/green bruising is the most apparent I've seen on Gymnopolis that are supposedly inactive. I also thought of Amillaria as a possibility because the gills seem so white, but I'm pretty sure they're not. I left them and did not collect for a print.
The next photo is a past-it's-prime butyriboletus regius or something similar. It was a shock to see because it seems like boletes are definitely close to finished for the season.
I found an oak log growing what looked like orange oysters. Thought they were cool looking. Thought about taking some but they smelled unappetizing. Kinda soapy.
These were cool purple mushrooms that caught my eye. I want to say Cortinarius.
Walked through a madrone stand and found a solitary Leccinum manzanitae. Haven't ran into this mushroom in years.

I found a little fruiting of Lactarius. I was hoping they were rubidus upon discovery, but when I scratched the gills, white "latex" oozed. The stems are mixed hollow and solid, but mostly solid. I'm pretty confident I don't have a mixed collection. The latex and flesh did not bruise/change to yellow when exposed to air. Maybe L. rufulus.

Hope everyone is having a good time out and about looking for mushrooms, I know I am!

I don't think those Are gyms. Also the Orange oysters are probably chicken of the woods

Yeah they might not be... The mushrooms that look like oysters had gills, not pores so it can't be chicken of the woods.

Nice pics Burtonrebel! Your purple ones are Laccaria amethysteo-occidentalis, and your orange "oysters" are Phyllotopsis nidulans. That first one sure looks like an Armillaria, not sure about that green "bruising" though.

Thanks Lhun! I have a bunch more I haven't taken the time to post yet. Some things seem extra productive this year, and other things barely made an appearance.

It would be cool if amanita phalloids didn't appear every year. So prolific everywhere I go!

Has anyone here eaten Laccaria amethysteo-occidentalis? I've heard it's a good edible. Found it once before I knew it was edible.

I haven't, it seems like it would be hard to find a lot of them though. Pretty elegant mushroom

They are pretty common around here, and yes I have eaten them. I like Laccaria laccata better...
The L. amethysteo-occidentalis quickly turn "fishy" in odor as they mature. The large ones start to smell like salmon eggs after a bit. That alone turns me away.

Thanks for the info. I always wonder when someone tells me a mushroom is a choice. The fishy odor of mature oysters turns me away so I'm sure this one wouldn't be that pleasent for me. Beautiful mushroom though.
