South Carolina New to Hunting
    #23892960 - 12/04/16 06:04 AM (7 years, 2 months ago)

Hello everyone. So i have been doing all of my research. I reside in the coastal region of South Carolina. Plenty of golf courses and state parks around to hunt in. Unfortunately not any pastures i can use though. Seems however that the species i would like to hunt grow on dead and decomposing plant material(the five species on the SC list of actives excluding the top one do to possible posioning).I have this site and a few Wiki pages of my species saved to my phone for quick reference. Although hunting season is over for me looking forwards to spring-fall 2017 to see what I can find. Any help from you all as far as pointers and/or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'm pretty new to mushroom hunting myself and I have went out with the purpose of locating gyms or maybe even psil. caerulipes but have only had luck locating a couple of cubes and nice to make your acquaintance  :hatsoff:

that's encouraging. Psilocybe caerulipes season runs through December maybe there's still hope:mushroom2:

I thought I'd seen posts of caerulescens (aka weilii) in SC, but don't know if there's bonafide evidence.

Also, how common is caerulipes in NC and SC? It'd be fun to hunt them.

South Carolina caerulescens:

And I'd be absolutely shocked if caerulipes season lasted beyond September.

Found a couple small patches of these by a lightly wooded area today. Currently trying to identify for practice.

when i do a thread search i find alot of older threads for my locality. Is there anyone from the region planning to do a official thread in 2017? Or maybe a group of South Carolinans willing to group up to discuss hunting in the area? Much appreciated and happy hunting to all.
