Ok so I have recently found some brown spots on the base of a few stems... is it anything to worry about?

yes

Oldest at bottom newest at top. It will keep getting worse if you just let it go
it's pseudomonas bacteria, some people might mistakenly tell you it's verticillium but I never saw any verticillium with my microscopy of the infected fruits, only bacteria Likely Pseudomonas

not the best micrographs but I used a cell phone camera held to the eyepiece of a shitty 100$ microscope
DO NOT MIST, misting spreads it like wildfire. remove, clean, start over.
fresh air really helps keep it at bay
as a preventative if you're paranoid, don't spray it on active infections try to use it as a preventative until the problem resolves

you can eat the whole fruit, so long as you completely dry/dehydrate it out.
I probably would cut above the contamination if you are going to eat it though yea.
those cakes are garbage, unless you want to see more of that, toss that shit at the first signs always

see if they're ok before tossing, let them do their thing and if they get fucky then toss
cut back on misting a lot, they can handle some neglect, chances are that will see you get more results in this case
I haven't seen it pop back up at my place in a while now but when it was around it popped up for months at random so it's a pesky fucker but you'll be way better off than I was since I didn't even know what was happening for a long time

I've never experienced this type of contaminate before...It looks fuckin' terrible.
Pic 5 on the top line of your post looks gnarly...

Glad to have seen this post so I know what to look for if it happens on my end.
