Anyone have one yet? Is it true the controllers are tiny? The wife and I thought it'd be great for our van conversion in the spirit of vintage thaaaangs. Dick

The controllers are the same as the old NES ones, the console is tiny. The cables for the controllers are really short. I don't have one but I read about video games all the time.

Its limited to only 30 games... Mod your old ps3 you have laying around and install retroarch. Grab a few romsets and you have every game, premapped to your ps3 controller and only a few presses away....and gamegenie/gameshark/actionreplay cheats.
Or a even cheaper option. Mod a wii and play them on that. You might even find someone willing to just give you their wii lol

Thanks all! I own a Wii, but am fairly computer illiterate so I would not be able to do all the mod things, I don't think. Maybe I could con my kid???
 Thanks again! Dick

Look up some vids on youtube. I'm fairly certain you wont find your self too lost in the woods. Its a quick process. Mostly moving that SD Card from the computer and back. You don't actually open anything up lol.

Apparently the Mini NES has a huge amount of storage (in terms of NES games) so I think it may be only a matter of time before hackers create custom firmware and you'll be able to play any NES game on it. People are buying them up and scalping the shit ouf of them price wise though so I won't ever buy one. I'd rather just get a Raspberry Pi and buy a 3d printed NES case for it and have an emulation station that can play 8bit through 32bit games pretty well. N64 is still a little shotty on the Pi but Playstation seems to work well for the most part.

Yea, I looked on amazing and could not believe 250 bucks for the console, fuck that. I grew up on Atari, Sega genesis, Nes was hot shit when we got it lol. My wife suggested getting to the toy store on a Wednesday morning, but after reading all of this I might just take on a project. You guys seem very helpful and kind so I figure I could probably ask silly questions without feeling old and stupid Technology has come so far since I learned to play on the old skool Apple 2e (I think) or our 286 box at home, going to dial up BBS boards in COLOR, wow was that high tek. Alright, so a project it shall be, I will start reading up. Any good links to find the gear and do some reading? All I have got is time..... Thank you all :-) Dick

Heres a howto on it. A little long-winded but it covers everything. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EXU3FrDey2M
Complete step by step guide. https://sites.google.com/site/completesg/hacking-guide/4-3-guide
The letter bomb link http://please.hackmii.com/
Here is a list of emulators (Download, Unzip & Place on SD card) http://wiibrew.org/wiki/List_of_homebrew_emulators
Here is a link to every romset, all the games ever released for that system. You need to register on the forum to see the links. Well worth the 30 seconds to get nice fast mega links to these sets. Make sure your SD card is large enough for all the games you wish to include. http://www.epforums.org/showthread.php?56293-MULTI-ROM-SET-No-Intro-Collection-(Complete-ROM-Sets)
Good luck man. Post back with your progress or if your run into any problems.

Yep, My girl bought me one the day they were released. She stood in line at Target for 3hrs. I need to get another controller and extension because the cable is only like 6' and sucks trying to play laying in bed with the tv mounted on the wall. I'm just using a 15' hdmi for now.

Mini NES is a cool idea but I really dont see the point when you can just use an emulator and controller on your PC with every game released for NES or SNES.

Its just another stupid cash grab into the warez scene. You don't even need a PC, I can play n64 and psx games on my phone.

I can see the appeal though. You're getting replicas of the original controllers, it's quite small so you can easily take it with you and plug it into whoever's TV, and the emulation is meant to be top notch. I've played roms in the past and they're usually pretty good, but how do you know which one to get? There's so many different emulations of the same game. I recently got Super Mario Bros 3 for 3DS in the virtual console store, and the emulation is pretty crappy. Colour glitches, flashing sprites, that kind of thing. And I don't remember the colours looking so dull.

I can run RetroArch on pretty much any device I could run including my phone which I can carry around with me and use with a bluetooth controller which fits in my pocket. Its pretty funny how free software fan made emulators are of a higher quality than the official Nintendo emulators, you can even run RetroArch on your 3DS.
