Salvia hardiness
    #2383987 - 02/27/04 04:08 PM (20 years, 23 hours ago)

I'm considering growing some Salvia cuttings, but in a couple months(june) I'll be driving down through BC for about a week, moving permanently. Would Salvias be able to handle the trip? The source I have for cuttings (Salvia North) says he thinks they would be fine, but I wanna be double sure.

they sure will get a little stressed and even might wilt a little but i guess it should be easy to ride with salvias (in the trunk, junkies).
just drive smooth... and get them well fixed somewhere.
anyways, if they arrive a little wilted, don't worry, they recover soon. but i've never done it so far...

what a myth, i know it depends on where one lives but salvia isn't really of the hardest plants to grow.

growing salvia isnt so very hard, you need a good light  and high humidity and show them some love and care and youll be just fine

Salvia can grow with very little humidity. But i think they will grow slower. It's winter here, I accustomed them to living without the 'bag' over the plant, then I moved them away from the bathroom, because it was too cold by the window.
They are now in the living room, winter time is low humidity usually, and they are doing fine (some bad leaf edges), not growing fast but will maybe pick up come spring.
Or it could even be a light issue, as they do get less light being away from the window.

My Salvia plants enjoy riding around with me when they have to! They should be fine as long as they aren't exposed to the cold for very long.

Right now I have um... *checks*, 13 plants, actully 10 plants and 3 cuttings in the making, but sall good. there actully quite easy to maintain, I mist them once a day sometimes twice, and i just keep em all under one big dubble 4 foot flourescent light. Very little himidity needed for these babys, and they grow quite well now that i have them under this light. so, they should handle a lil road trip np, just keep them misted once an awhile n make sure there not exposed to too much direct sunlight.

These are some older pics of my sally ds
